rear view camera installed

unfortuately here in Texas, you aren't allowed to cover up the word "Texas" so the camera had to be mounted on the lower part of the plate but it works just as well either way. The installer just had to flip the cam inside the frame.

Bear with me. The purpose of the camera? So you can see what you are going to back into? Or to help sighting in rear missiles on tailgaters?

Anyhow the cost?

I'll have to agree with Blacks3sr on this one....I can see the use of a camera on a car with limited view of the back, but on a fit it'll probably promote more accidents than it prevents because you'll always be looking at the screen and then lose track of what's on your sides, etc....

Cool mod, but pretty useless IMO ;p.

Give the guy a break.

I for one love rear view cameras. It makes parallel parking a cinch!

Especially useful if you live in a big city where parking spaces are scarce.

It it necessary? No. Is it nice to have and make my life easier? Most definitely.

I live in a neighborhood with a lot of small children and also on a sloped driveway that creates a blind spot besides I also have a small child. Hopefully it will keep me from running over whatever she leaves in the driveway or running over her.

i like it. very cool.

for the folks that find it useless...imagine if more people had it. it would certainly cut down on the "park by touch" folks that i see way too many of in san francisco.

How do you get power for camera

I've read general on-line instructions that say these cameras are usually powered by clipping to the power leads of the Reverse Lights. Has anyone managed to do this without tearing whole hatch apart? A DIY with some pix would be heroic!
