Fit + Droid = GO

Confirmed, the SD card included with the Motorola Droid can be mounted and read by the USB input in our cars.

Yes

My guess is no, all it is doing is accessing the build in SD card and treating it like attached storage.

You have to "Mount" the SD card to read it. It pops up on the Droid screen when the USB is plugged in.

I can't get my iPhone to play Pandora thru USB. But it should work through the aux cable, right? Have XM, though, so no worries.

sounds like as long as you can set the phone to a usb mass storage device, the audio system should recognize the phone. i'll try my nexus one tonight.

I notice that if I have any apps running while its connected to the car HU, any sounds they make will come through to the HU. So, if you can get it to stop playing music, you could then grab the iPhone (or iPod), load Pandora, control as if you are listening directly to it, and the audio should come out though the USB.

Of course, all control of Pandora has to be done directly on the iPhone/iPod and not via the HU (PITA if it is in the upper glove compartment).

Did you have to reboot into recovery and then mount sdcard while plugged in?

Can you still get phone calls with the Droid X while it's plugged into the car's USB? My crappy dumbphone won't allow calls in or out while it's plugged into the USB for music.

You shouldn't have to reboot... when you plug in the USB cable, you just have to enable USB Mass Storage... just like you would with your PC.

thanks for the tip...i know about usb mass storage. i've done it this way...pc mode...usb mass storage...charge only...

in mass storage mode...it says "unsupported device" on the stereo screeen. under pc mode...it says "usb load" or something like that but nothing happens.

the reason i ask about rebooting into recovery is, u are able to mount the sd card without loading the OS on the phone which I thought would be conflicting with the stereo which gives the unsupported device message.

Thank you! I was wondering the same thing myself. I was using my 2G iPod touch for the USB input, it's great that I don't have to carry around two devices anymore!
