I got 2010 Base Fit, then bought carpet OEM floor mats from CFL Honda, here is a question - driver side of my Fit has a vinyl square mat glued to the carpet. I can't remove it, it is glued really well. But the carpet floor mat has the spikes on the back which suppose to grab the carpet to prevent slipping.

I understand there hooks to install, but does everybody has this vinyl mat?
Do you just put OEM floor mat on top of it?

the mats won't slip at all when you have the clips in place. there is actually a slit near the rear of that glued mat to let you know where to install the clips for the driver's mat.

 

So everybody has that glued vinyl, not just me?

 

right. it's there for people that don't have the mats. it's a heel guard so you don't wear a hole through your carpet.

I didn't even check my Fit because it came with mats from the dealer but every car I've owned since the 1960s has had this in place. Like another member said, if you chose not install a mat (and I don't of anyone that does not install some sort of mat) this would prevent you wearing a hole through the carpet when you work the pedal.

BTW, use the clips when you do the install.
