New 2010 Fit owner- what other cars have you had?
Hi, I just purchased a new 2010 Fit sport. It's my first new car purchase since 1990, when I bought a new Dodge Colt (not a bad car considering it cost me only $6,500 new). This is my first Honda car, although I have had an insane (in a good way) 1983 Honda CX650 Turbo motorcycle for over a decade. Been driving since 1984, my first car was a 1974 Dodge Dart. It was a Spartan but well engineered car- and it gave me an appreciation for unpretentious, basic transportation that was also reliable. Here's the cars that I have had or driven for over 1 year, with rating out of 10:
1) 1974 Dart, '84-91: Base model, Slant 6 engine would run forever. Body was rusty. 9/10
2) 1976 AMC Pacer 78-88 My parent's, it was a surprisingly heavy car. Not my favorite to drive but unique looks. 5/10
3) 1983 Renault Alliance: '83-93 My Parent's, it was cheaply built but fuel efficient. 5/10
4) 1990 Dodge Colt, '90-00 My first new car, it was a little noisy on the highway but reliable and great gas mileage. 6/10
5) 1965 Plymouth Valiant 91-Present. Awesome little antique car. Still have it! 10/10
5) 1993 Saturn SW2 '98-02 . For my wife. Nice car. Composite panels kept it light. 7/10
It just occured to me that all of the above were manual transmission cars!
6) 1990 Buick Park Avenue. 99-06. Powerful battle tank of a car. Reliable, well built. 8/10
7) 1994 Buick Regal. 06-09. Cheap to buy, easy to maintain. 8/10.
8) 2005 Volkswagen Jetta. 09-10. Previous ovener must have abused it, as everything that could go wrong did. 1/10.
9) 2010 Honda Fit. Plan to maintain this one meticulously and keep it into perpetuity like my '65 Valiant, If it proves worthy of such loyalty.
So I am down to one "modern" car: the Fit, mostly for my wife to drive. I ride to work on my motorcycle, and when I drive I take one of my Valiants (I seem to have amassed a collection).
I hope to use this forum, and add something useful to others, in the future!

Being that your new make sure you always search for prior similar threads before starting new ones. Duplicate threads are a major problem on this forum.
