General Maintenance Minder question

I have no idea what kind of codes pop up on the dash to "Mind" you or even where they show up but do the codes actually mean anything? I guess what I am trying to say is, if I were to do a general maintenance on the car early (something that the minder would show) and it wasn't reset (do we reset them?), will that particular code come up or does it somehow sense or know what you did and it resets itself?

And example would be my '84 Accord DX that I used to own. It "monitored" your oil, air filter and something else and it had 3 little lights that would go from green to yellow to red to remind you what had to be changed. And what one was supposed to do is insert your key in a little slot below each light after you did the service and it would reset the light back to green; so essentially the lights meant nothing as one could just reset the light for your oil without actually changing it and the light would show green.

The manual covers this. Rather than a long retype, just give a read.
