Slight Start-Up Hesitation After Sitting For 8 Hours

I've noticed that after my Fit has not been turned on for at least 8 hours it hesitates slightly when starting up. It cranks two to three times, pauses for a split second, then starts. It has never not started. Additonally, I live in Southern California, so the weather shouldn't be an issue. Have any of you experienced this? Thanks in advance!

Yup, same thing here. I don't remember how many times it cranks before it starts, but the slight hesitation is there.

Interestly enough I've had a recent bit of extended crank everytime I start the car. Don't really want to bring it into the dealer - but I may test my battery at work.

Funny, I've just started noticing this with mine this past week (21,000 miles @ 13 months). I'll have to watch this thread.

I may have the answer........

Pause in ignition on for second or 2 before engaging the starter, that lets the fuel pump charge the injectors. It may also give the ECU time to wake up and set for cold start.

I do this as a habit. I don't know if it makes any difference but it feels like the car is getting some "special attention."

Has anyone with the problem actually checked the charge in their battery?

Mine is like that too and I think it's a built-in feature. Could it be that the designers want the oil pressure or flow first?

My old Civic was the same.

I've done the key in, turn to on, hesitate (or buckle seat belt) and then crank--helps a lot.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've tried that and it seems to not have much of an effect. I suppose it may be somewhat normal.

LOL I forget not everybody lives in the cool breezes of the Lake Michigan shores.

OK ok, I may um have the answer this time......maybe.

In hot weather try some throttle opening. I have had cars where that has helped.

I have never paid any attention to this or even noticed it. When it does not start then I will be concerned.

Sometimes I think we are looking for problems that just aren't there.

+1

Perhaps Fits in Canada are immune from this problem.

EDIT: My bad. I just noticed a member from Quebec has the problem. Wait, is Quebec still part of Canada? j/k

wait until you hear the fuel pump stop humming before trying to start the car.

I get this too; it has done it since the car was new.

I bought a '10 in 11/09 so purchased in cold weather, did it all winter, still does it now.
