Exclamation PRM intake install FAIL!!!!

Well I tried to install my PRM intake today and my car would simply not idle. The intake is installed correctly and I checked for possible leaks and there were none. You can only mount the MAF sensor one way so that can't be it. The strangest thing is my car isn't throwing any codes, so I'm all out of ideas. Has anyone else had this issue? I have an '09 MT sport.

Do you have the MAF sensor facing the firewall? I think it says it's supposed to be, though I don't know why.

ok I just went and took it off here's a pic....as for the MAF I know some people think you can install it backwards but it only fits one way. That's why I added that in my 1st post.

Pretty sure you have the pipe on backwards... look at the pic that came with the instructions. I'll check my intake in the morning to make sure.

I guess I can try but it would go against the install instructions.

Everyone keep saying that but I have it set up exactly as the instructions say. The MAF connection should be closer to the filter. The car will start but the idle is constantly hunting for about 10 seconds then it just dies. I'll try and swap the tube around in the morning and see if that changes anything but I doubt it.

yeah MAF's generally only go on 1 way, it sounds like you have a hose disconnected. but you said you checked everything...

i would suggest you put back your old one to see if it isn't a sensor failure.. BUT i know its a PAIN taking out the old intake.. because it took me forever to hall that thing out.

Yeah the title of this thread is fail. Whats inside the thread isn't so much about PRM fail. The intake itself isn't causing your problem, but something else is. Probably with the MAF.

My PRM intake is great!

MAFs are pretty delicate. Not saying you were rough with it, but if it were dropped or banged that might cause a failure.

Don't think you have it installed wrong, actually. Like Jooky mentioned, I'd call Gerry. Nice guy.
