CAI custom build :D

Thanks to "Lyon[Nightroad]" for the awsome idea :P if you want to see how the SRI is made/installed go HERE

This is my take on the SRI/CAI, sorry for the huge pics!

this is the MAF sensor tube after I cut it out and sanded it back, its masked up ready to paint for a clean looking finish.

This is the painted MAF sensor attached to the other parts ready to go.

This is the aluminium sheeting I cut the heat shield from, If anyone is interested Ill give out dimensions of the box, took a bit of messing around to get the right sizes and fit.

Here it is bent to shape and drilled for mounts, ready for paint and rubber insulation around the edges, you can also see two mounting brackets I made.

Here it is painted, insulated and installed with the filter.

some other angles, as you may notice my breather filter hasn't arrived yet (ebay) so I zip tied some foam instead... temporarily :P

the shield is in there really tight and sturdy, its mounted to 3 points, back of the shield is mounted to the earth wire bolt on top of the transmission,
bottom of the shield is mounted to the bracket that held the filter box, left of the shield is mounted to the engine block.

Any questions ask away ^_^ thanks again to Lyon[Nightroad]

Update, here are the rough dimensions, within a few mm shouldn't change it (sorry metric cause im aus :P)

Please show me pics when you have done this!! I would like to see how it works out for you!

As for mounting holes, I think it is better you measure them up yourself, if you need help mounting ask me and ill take picks where I mounted mine, good luck!

Don't have a scan gauge but after a bit of driving the other day the filter was stone cold, I drove with the shield off and it was hot, so it is doing what it's supposed to ,

thanks for the kind words, and yes my inspiration was the K&N one :P

also to add, fuel consumtion has dropped from 7.9L/100km to 6.2L/100km (sorry metric) maybe it will go up a bit more later but it seems to have done something.

Wow great job. That is one clean heat shield. Could you pm your dimensions or do you have a template picture with dimensions? I already did the custom sri. but that heat shield would just make it so much more cai and efficient.

Thanks in advance

Thanks Committobefit08

I have a template I made, I will draw it out and add dimensions to it soon, ill post it up for anyone willing to make it.

It cost me a total of AUD$25 for the materials, (nuts, bolts, washers $10), (aluminium sheet from a junk yard $4) and (1m rubber edge seal from local rubber supply or hardware $11).

Thank you! I will probably make mine out of .040 Alum. I work at a sheet metal roofing company so the material should be easy to get.
Thanks again.

Thank you! The metal came from a junk yard, I liked the impressions on it cause it looks different and makes it very rigid and strong

Thank you citabria7 and Enegizer!

I was thinking of doing a vid clip or sound clip cause it sounds quite nice :P makes a distinct hiss when you change gear and touch the accelerator when accelerating hard.
