To each their own. I do like the Tracy sport hood though and would be down on a group buy.

 

I've wanted some hood vents on my GD3 since before I've made the puchase. More for the function of it but it looks cool too. Where can I find the vents? Preferably in CF

 

Carbon fiber hood louvers are going to look like shat because of the way they are applied. Best bet is to get real hood vents and cut your hood to fit. If any of these interest you, I'll sell em to you for what I paid. Otherwise, google my friend...

 

if the tracy is a direct fit... I would love to have one installed

 

I've had this hood on my car for over 3 years and not a single problem...and it rains a lot here.

Not a direct fit.

It would be possible to hybridize the JDP and Tracy hoods together. The JDP hood is essentially fiberglass with a layer of CF. If you get just the fiberglass hood from JDP, you could cut the middle and graft the Tracy scoop. Then you could get a body shop to smooth it all out and color match the hood to OEM paint.

Of course, this is $$$$$$$ level-5 baller status to buy both just to cut them up.

Maybe JDP could consider doing this to provide additional hoods for those interested? Functional would be a requirement.

Hopefully he will take on the project as what he has turned out, from pictures, it looks like decent quality items. I actually proposed this when he was going to make a carbon hood, believe I even showed pictures of the Ings/Tracy bonnet as a go by. It seems though that most of the people at that time wanted a stock carbon hood.

The bay is hot, I remember on my old TeggyR the Ings hood would have heat vapor trails riding up over my car, I couldn't see it obviously as I was driving, but my friends behind me said it was like a mirage or whatever flowing over my car.

And about the rain, never had any issues with the hood which had 2 outlets and an inlet to push air down onto the exmani and I was also running with the GruppeM intake which took in air right from the cowl. As has been stated, you should worry more about water coming in from the underside, but then again not really worry at all unless you plan to try to float your vehicle.
