2010 owners.. how accurate is your MPG display?

Mine seems to be at the most .2 of a mile off, either direction. That to me seems like it's within the margin of error considering every gas pump is different, so there is no way to exactly measure miles per gallon at the pump. I think it depends on whether I'm running mostly highway(it reads a little low then) or lots of hills(a little high).

Ever since I started driving I've always kept an MPG log. Not sure where I got that from, no one in my family has ever done it.

I've put 1400 miles on my Fit in 2 weeks of just cruising around... still loving it.

mine has been pretty much +1 mpg.

I've filled up my tank 9 times since I got the car (2100 miles in 40 days), and when I remembered to look at the mpg gauge before resetting my trip, it was always 1 mpg higher than my own calculated mpg. But even so, I don't think the error is too big.

My overall mpg is just under 30 (which was the minimum I was hoping, twice the Nissan Pathfinder).

3mpg off, roughly. I'm at 3k in 3 weeks.

3k in 3 wks?

Dang, that's crazy.

I have a few days off from work in Oct... I know, that's a bit in the future, but it's because my bosses had to plan their cruise quite early.

Anyway, as I was saying, I was thinking about taking a road trip to California and using the Fit, but I'd have only 10 days total though. Its about 2k miles from Chicago to SD... so a round trip would add over 4k miles. IF I did it (and on my own), I'd probably just get there in time to have to turn around and come back in order to get back by 10 days.

Wish I had more time... I've been wanting to do a road trip for a long time, see the sights and all.

Interesting, I was pretty shocked at how close mine has been then. I've done 4 tanks of fuel, about half way through one now.

Might make an interesting graph over the course of a year...

Mine has been pretty accurate - never more than 1.5mpg greater than calculated and usually less than 1mpg off.

In 4300 miles my average is 42.8 mpg. Best was 44.2 and worst was 38.5.

Its hit or miss when compared with the "old school" method but I will say the last time I filled up last week I got 35.5 and the OBC showed me getting 35.2

Mine seems to be about +1. Still haven't had a tank under 40mpg

That's what happens when you don't have to go up hills all the time

So has this improved from the 2009? On average, my OBC fuel economy is 14% higher than actual. So in other words it tells I'm getting 4 mpg better than actual.

I have a 2009 Sport with the software correction. Unless you run the tank to dry, and fill almost to overflow, it's very difficult to get a consistent fill, especially on less than a half tank. Over ~7600 miles, the meter is 0.2% optimistic on average, with differences from calculated ranging from -5.7 to +7 mpg. I attribute most of this variation to operator error.

What are you saying? Please, can I get a simple answer? Fuel in for distance out is not that difficult to calculate.

So +4 mpg like my 2009 would be no good for you because you have a 2010? Is this what you're trying to say? Can you be anymore clearer... please?

Measuring fuel in is difficult to calculate, because the Fit's gas tank is under the front seats, and there is a long distance from the filler neck to the tank. If you have enough patience, you can pump as much as 2 gallons more after a gas pump first auto-stops. So, when is it full? Let's say you have travelled 300 miles, put in 8 gallons of gas, and stop when the pump shuts off = 37.5mpg. OR you squeeze in 2 gallons more, bit by bit until you can see fuel in the filler neck = 30 mpg. Which answer is "correct"?
