TPMS light...help!!
TPMS light...help!!
I got my 2010 Fit back in July. Unfortunately on Saturday morning I hit something on highway that speared the back drivers side tire. We replaced tire with spare. I called all around and NOBODY had a replacement tire in stock. Not even the closest Honda dealer! So I had to order one and it comes in tomorrow
I have the spare on still but the TPMS light is on. Is that because the spare is on? I have tried calling Honda and the Honda dealer and of course everyone is off today
I was planning on taking back roads to work tomorrow then on way home picking up my new tire. My concern is that the light is on and I dont want to do any damage to the car
Please...anyone? Can you shed some light on this for me
Thanks in advance!

I wouldn't worry about the TPMS light being on. If you want to, and you have a tire pressure gauge check your remaining tires. But if you removed one tire and replaced with a your spare that's 99.9% the reason your light is on. Tire Pressure Monitoring System is just sensors in your wheels that do as the name suggests and monitors the pressure in your tires. If you "speared" one, and had to replace it with your spare, you'd have a problem if the light did NOT come on.
No, I don't think the spare has TPMS and spares are kept at a different PSI anyway.

My TPMS light came on yesterday. I couldn't tell that any of the tires looked low, but I didn't have a pressure gauge with me (I do now). So I checked when I got home and the tires were all at about 28-29 psi. What's the threshold for the TPMS light? Must be about 5 psi?
28 ~ 29, checked when you got home, like directly after driving? That's a bit low (20%) for hot pressures if indeed checked as soon as you got home. Should see around 35psi after driving if the cold temps are at factory recommended settings in your door jam. Have you since put some air into the tires?

The TPMS light went out after driving about a half block this morning. The temperature was in the low 70's so that had a bit to do with it. It made me a bit nervous not knowing if one of my tires had a nail in it or something. But that was my fault for not having a tire pressure gauge in the car so I could check. Visual inspection doesn't tell you squat unless a tire is almost flat.
I recently had a flat tire changed at a local shop (no way they put in a TPMS). The TPMS light went on a few weeks after.
I'm still under warranty, but the dealership said that they would charge because the shop did it instead of them?
Should I just keep my tires checked and ignore the TPMS light?
