I was bored...

So, it was getting close to 1 am, when I decided to go out for some food (nothing is open past 1am out here, grrr). Shortly after leaving, I remembered something... testing my 0-60 skills (or lack thereof).

It wasn't until I neared a Best Buy on Willow Rd (Glenview) that I decided to do a run... but it failed. I was using the Bosch free app to do the test, but forgot that it took a second or two to get "ready," so I ended up taking off before the app was ready and the test aborted shortly after (no result).

After I got my food from Steak 'n Shake (Western BBQ n Bacon, yum), I decided to do another run. From one light to the next just in front of the SnS. Technically, those sections of road have speed limits of 40 or 45 mph, but I figured that it was late and if I do it right, I could drop from 60+ to 50-55 very fast.

The result? A measly 10.91. "This, on an MT?!?" You might ask... yeah, but in my defense, the ground was wet and I was slipping at take off. I don't know how much better I could get on dry ground (if any).

You can see the beginning of the "Gs" curve where I was slipping. I forgot to take a snapshot of the actual result, so you'll just have to take my word for it (or try to calculate it based on the info in the pic, if you want).

did my ritual run to mcdonalds for coffee last night around 11 and made a dash for the green light after exiting the drive-thru before it turns yellow... all i did was spin the skinny tires in place on the rained out road LOL

Hahaha

But yeah dry road would help a lot, as well as running the RPMs high before shifting... Nice though!

I hadn't eaten the food, just went through the drive through as they were about to close. But the weight was there, either way (1-2 lbs?).

If I can pull off a mid-9 second run on dry road, I'll be satisfied. I'm just an occasional wannabe.

For some reason, after I got my oil change and tire rotation, it feels like the front wheels are slipping MORE than before I got them rotated. It makes me wonder if my driving was causing the rears to wear out more, even though I'm on a FWD car. There was a point where I was spinning my tires, even though I was in second gear and the car was already going 20-30 mph (I can get a little aggressive when I drive). But yes, that was on wet roads.

btw, yesterday, I also had an unusual thing happen. I was doing a delivery and like I said, I get aggressive, but I thought I had shifted properly. But the RPMs climbed while the speed didn't (as much as I'd expect) and I didn't hear the tires slipping. The only thing I could think was... was my clutch slipping? If they slip and "burn"... would you smell it? Cause I smelled the stink of ground out metal when I got out of the car to drop off the delivery. Man, am I a bad MT driver?
