Can you fit a 60 inch LCD in the Fit?

While still in the box? What is the largest TV people have been able to cram into a fit?

You won't even be able to fit a 50" TV in a box in the fit. The boxes are just massive and wide. I haven't tested to see what the biggest you could fit is, but if I had to make a guess, probably no more than 42". Keep in mind these TVs should be placed upright.

I bought a 42" last week and it fit.. that was the biggest thing I've had to fit in my GE so far. The woman who wheeled it out for me said that my Fit was the first car she's seen where a TV that size fit in without any problems lol.

I was able to easily fit a 42 inch TV Box into the back seat of my VW Passat. I was thinking that lifting up the back seats and putting the car into tall mode might work.

I was able to fit a 50" plasma in the box in my 1988 Wagovan. I'm thinking 50" would probably fit, but the 60"? Wow. It would be a safer bet to borrow a mini-van. Something that rides REALLY smooth too. My Wagovan was dumped and rode pretty rough with the plasma in it...I was stressing out the whole ride home that the TV would be broken! Got it home safely, however. If I did it again...MINI VAN!

I loaded a 46" Sharp LCD in the Fit, standing up, at Costco all by myself. Measure the box with a tape measure. That's what I did.

I don't think anything bigger than a 46" in the box will fit properly (standing up)

You might be able to get a 52" laying down but I wouldn't recommend doing that.

See reference thread.

so in sum...

whether or not it goes in depends on the size of the box

Correct. Different brands use different schemes for packing, so no universal conclusion can be made about a specific size. A 50" of one brand may fit, while another brands' 50" may not.

You can either take it out of the box,or borrow a larger vehicle. The box generally adds quite a bit of size.

someone's going shopping this friday, huh?

i think if you remove the box it could fit but yah, 40-42" might be the biggest. ive seen those boxes..they are huge for what's inside. take measurements of the tv without the box and see if the Fit's cargo opening is wide enough.

my most recent Fail was trying to carry a crib headboard... barely did not fit by about 1.5" errrr....

Why do you need to carry it upright ? When I brought home my 40" I lay it flat......

I had both a 42" and a 50" in there, and the pics to prove it. 50" seemed like the absolute maximum, but it will depend on the box, and also, these were plasmas, so I had to keep it upright.

edit: I should mention that the length is a limiting factor. I think the 50" was in there up against the front passenger seat pretty snuggly.

Wow I stand corrected.....How the heck did you fit that in?! ahha I think maybe it's because the samsung boxes are in general much more snug than other brands. I was buying a 50" panasonic TV with my friend and I just saw the box and was thinking "yeah that's not fitting in my car" hahaha. What model is that TV?

wow...nice to know i can fit at the max a 50" tv.
i eventually plan to get a 46" 3d led in the future so I hope it'll fit nice n snug.
was the passenger front seat pushed all the way to the front and reclined forward? jus wanted to know if i can fit the miss' too. lol.

btw, off topic...how long do ur plasma tv's last? i mean they're cheaper than most leds/lcds, refresh rate is awesome. its just the energy use and longevity (or so what other people say).

The front seat was all the forward, and reclined forward from what I remember. I might have sort of cinched it in a little bit with the seat back. However, look at the 42" and how it meets the area between the front seats. Not even sure how I got the 50" in. Tilting was used.

I'm not sure exactly about plasmas, but when I researched it, I determined that it was longer than I would have the tv. I love it. Definitely check out the model I have from best buy. Did a lot of research, and for the money it is really something. Burn in happens, but it never sticks. I wouldn't get one if I played a lot of video games or had a sunny room. My viewing environment is well suited for one, so I went with it. Have a 37" Vizio, and the plasma looks more natural. That's the best subjective impression I can give. More painterly than digital. And the blacks are awesome of course.

I couldn't get a 46" to fit in tall mode today, but was able to get it to lay flat with the seats down. That thing was dead flush with the backs of the front seats and rear hatch! The Fit never fails to impress me.
