For those who read my 'Hi' thread, this will be old news but I'm hoping it might be of some interest to those who are curious about the life of a car before it gets to them. I am one of those people...

I work at the Port of Portland here in Oregon and move new cars around in preparation for transit to dealers. This is actually how the Fit was brought to my attention and was placed on my very short list of next cars to buy. So, if anybody has any questions about how the cars arrive or are prepped, I'm more than willing to answer them. Fire away.

Approximately how long does it take for the car to ship from the factory in Japan to the states?

Good question. I can't stand it when someone else marks my territory.

 

I must admit...yes although for some reason, they seem to come rolling around whenever I'm in the CR-Vs, not so much the Fits.

Each car has a slip with the completion date and time and while I don't look at all of them, I do glance at some. It can range from less than three weeks to almost two months. I guess it all depends on supply and demand.

 

Off to the ports tomorrow....will make sure to report anything out of the ordinary.
