The plastic cover on the rear hatch, is it normal for it to fall off so easily??

I pulled on which looked like a slot to pull on, which i thought was there so you can pull on the hatch without touching the paint. But when i pulled on it, not even that hard, the whole plastic cover fell off.

I guess i'll replace all the clips first and see what happens. Maybe mine are worn out?? I clipped them back on the hatch couple of times, but it seems like few of the clips, pops in when i push in, but pops out when i let go.

oh and btw, i noticed on the plastic cover. That they're 3 different color clips to hold it into place. 2 orange, 8 gray, and 1 dark green clip. By each clip, there's a writing in Japanese engraved next to it. So you can't confuse which color goes where.....How nice of honda. =]

I don't think its normal... I pull on that handle hard because I don't like to touch the paint when closing the hatch (its dusty here in West Texas so the dirt collects where your hand touched for everyone to see!), It shows no sign of being loose at all...

No, no it's not. I've been closing my hatch by the handhold on the inside for two years now, without a whimper from the car. If you weren't supposed to pull there, why would they put the handhold there?

the first time it comes off you're screwed. I have learned not to grab on that ridiculous latch or whatever it's called BUT when the entire panel comes off... now that's some serious shit. That panel is hard and a PITA to remove to begin with.

thanks for input guys. I ordered all clips. and it seems to be firm now.

And wow all the clips were less than 1.00 each but the orange one was 3.30$ each...... total came out to be around 12$ for all clips.
