I presume you have the same gen Fit as the MT. Is the check engine light on? If so, go to Autozone or Advance Auto and have them pull your codes for free and post them. In the interim make sure your mass-air sensor is properly fitted and connected, if it is, remove it and check inside the sensor for an insect or other contaminant. The end of the sensor is very delicate, don't use tools or anything hard to clean it, compressed air is usually all it takes. Check your clamps, if any are loose the car will pull in unmetered air. Also, check your vent tube from the valve cover to the intake for the same reason.

If all else fails swap your stock airbox back and see what happens. If this "great guy" is around, see if you can swap your mass-air out with his and check it.

Hope this helps.

If you are going to disconnect your battery, have your radio codes handy.

Your radio code should be on the first page of your Service History book, on your radio code card and on a sticker in the glove box. If you can't find those you can force the radio to display it's serial number by pressing the "1" and "6" preset buttons down with the radio off and while holding them down turn the audio unit on. The serial number will show on the display. PM me the number and I'll get you your radio code.
