Slow Start on Cold

I have an 09 Fit Sport M/T @ ~ 40k miles. For the past 10k miles I've noticed that the engine takes progressively longer to turn over while cold. 2 Honda dealers couldn't find anything wrong including check the battery. Could it be my battery or something else possibly?

Thanks!

How often do you use the car? And how far away is the Honda dealer?

If you do little driving and it's all local, you may not be fully charging the battery. Then, driving to the dealer a long distance, it gets charged.

But also 'cold' is a relative term, since you live in L.A.

yeah... cold is definitely a relative term. It was -18F here when I started the car this past (Feb?) She groaned a little bit... then fired up. In the past the 1/2 Farad capacitor that was used for my amp, also provided extra boost to start the Integra in Freezing cold weather. I think i'm going to install it (even if I do not add a sub) in the FIT.

Turnover time is within "normal" bounds...between 2-4 seconds but its been reaching 3/4 seconds which is progressively longer than when I got the car at 20k miles (bought it used).

I use the car 7 days a week. The dealer kept the car overnight to let the engine go cold and to run the battery test.

4 days a week I drive 50 miles a day, 25 each way on the freeway. 3 days a week I drive 14 miles, 7 each way on the street. Travel time 4 days a week is roughly 30 minutes. Seemingly enough the charge the battery, right?

Do you run all your accesories all the time? You can do all the driving you want but if the charge reaching the battery is less then 13.5-14v it's either going to take forever or just not charge.

Our stock electrical system is pretty wimpy. There are ways to resolve this of course, and a quick search should help you out!

A 0w20 oil combined with non-ethanol blended gas will help as well.
