spoiler

I have a 2011 Fit Sport, AT, with the standard rear spoiler. Does this actually do anything? I see that it is not included on the base model. Is it just for cosmetic purposes or does it have some effect on the draft/eddie currents on the rear of the car?

Like most OEM spoilers, it's mostly for looks. With a hatchback, a roofline spoiler like the Sport's usually does actually help with rear lift and a bit of downforce. Not having done back-to-back testing, I can't vouch for how effective the stocker is, but I imagine it does help some- Mark W.

Suggest a few forum searches. Spoiler effect has been discussed/debated and there is a rear spoiler mod floating around here some place.

My opinion is that the effects on driveablity are negligible. I found it does keep an over night freezing rain off the rear window somewhat well.

Driving down a dirt road, it also keeps some dust off the back window Mark W.

The "hat brim" effect is a much easier observed effect. I dunno if there's a real downthrust effect, but I'm glad just to have the snow and rain mostly off the back window.
