3rd brake light flash mod, other ideas
I have seen on a few cars an add-on which causes the 3rd brake light to strobe when stopping. Anyone done this for their Fit, what's the best way? Hate people running up my a**, will do this just to keep them off me, don't need to get butt-munched by some idiot clown not paying attn.
Something else I am dealing with is the awful dashboard glare into the windshield when driving toward the sun on a bright day
. Is there a good-looking dashmat that doesn't look stupid that'll get rid of this glare?
I really miss not having cruise control, wish I could have gotten a Sport. Hard to control the throttle on long trips, uncomfortable foot position, my speed keeps changing, sure doesn't help MPG at all. I'd like to do it some way where it doesn't have that ugly 3rd stalk junk on the turn signal. Maybe placing the switches in the blanks in the lower left knee panel area?
Removed the snout top cover, getting ready to install stone screen in the front lip, and found a huge chunk of somebody's broken headlight plastic panel had made it's way thru the opening and was lying there
Boy I was lucky it didn't make impact on the condenser! About the size of the palm of your hand! Gotta finish that job ASAP. Also makes me want to switch out the tiny rice horn and implant something a little more "Fit"-ting. I understand others like the Accord unit much better (where's that Sticky?!)

Here in Ohio, lights that change color or strobe will get you a citation for impersonating an emergency vehicle... not just your average fix-it-ticket.
I've never seen this brake-light mod. I'm not sure why it will deter tailgaters... jerks will be jerks, and when they see things like clever "back off" bumper stickers, they tailgate even harder.
It would probably reduce the risk of a rear-end collision though... Like semi trucks running their hazards while they get up to speed.

what you need (what I want too) is something like the new Hyundai elantra... flashes and then remain solid. Something like this YouTube - Flashing Third Brake Light Blinking 3rd Flasher Kit fitted on BMW 330 M Sport Convertible

Here in FL at least, as long as it is only when you apply the brakes it is fine. Not sure if it's legal, but I have never heard or seen anyone ticketed for it, but again ONLY when the brakes are applied not constant.
Here in CA the flashing third brake light is legal. I had one on my Civic when I bought it new in 04. It's not really useful in deterring tailgaters because those people are going to do that regardless. What it did help with is the the vast majority of drivers out there who simply aren't paying attention while they're driving. I had several instances where I noticed the person behind me panic-brake when I came to a stop. I think it's a great mod, and as soon as I get around to it I'm putting one on my fit.
I like this idea personally. I don't know the law's but I believe a flashing (taillight only) would get attention of cars behind you better.
I like the mustangs new turn signals as well...

found this... not sure if it works

This flash module will make your LED lights strobe for 2 seconds when you hit the brakes, then stay on steady as long as you have the brakes applied. Can be used in multiple applications like turn signals or reverse lighting to attract a bit more attention to your ride. In-line wiring makes installation with crimp connectors simple and easy (connectors not included)
*Not for use with dual output (high/low) applications like 1157 3157 and 7443 bulbs
*Check your local RCW lighting laws before purchasing if installing for use on public roads and highways.
