If you trade the SI, you will miss it. Paddles are for kayaks. I'd always had stick shifts, and I thought I'd be OK with the paddles. It was a combination of other factors that led me to boot the Fit from my carport, but getting another row-your-own gearbox was on the top of my list for a new car.

As for trading the Fit: AAAAHHHH Scratch that thought... Scratch this whole reply. I just looked at what the trade in values on the fit have done in the past two months since I traded mine, the Arab Spring rolled on, and an earthquakenami nailed Japanese auto production. I think I need a drink.

My buddy traded his paid-off Tundra crew-cab I-force V8 with oversized tires and a 5 inch lift. It was averaging 8 mpg. He got a 5 year loan on a used '08 Civic SI. He pays less in gas and the payment than he did on gasoline alone.

How many miles did he drive in a month? 1000? That's $500. I have a hard time believing this. Regardless, this example is off the charts extreme and nothing related to this guy's situation. Also - this guy wants to buy a hybrid - he already has the SI.

In this guy's situation, it would likely not save him any money. For my buddy, damn skippy it did!

So, yeah, around 1000 miles/month at 8 mpg = $500 (it was a bit under $4 at the time, but close enough).

1000 miles/month in the Civic, at 20 mpg = $200. His payment is $95/mo. (yup, the difference in the cost of two used vehicles, over 5 years) so as long as the price of gas stays above $1.40 or so (which shouldn't be too hard!) he'll continue to save money every month that he drives the SI while making a payment.

He didn't buy the SI to take it easy on her... He mentioned once he bought it that speeding tickets may wind up being the part where his money saving scheme falls apart.

keep the si. it's a waste of money selling an already pretty good mpg car with a soso car that's overpriced.

I am driving the car like a grandma and never vtec, avoid braking at traffic light and never pass above 60MPG on freeway. Most of my commute is all city and this is why I only get 20 MPG. I am not greddy at all. If one day I can get at least 26 MPG, I would be happy.

All the commute is about city driving from home to work. Maybe less than 400 miles a month. My main reason that I was thinking to buy a hybrid is to replace my Si from 20 MPG to 40 MPG (from the Insight). But I have heard that some people said the Insight is boring to drive, except good MPG returned.
