Exclamation New FitFreak: Need your opinion on 18x8 +45 wheels

Hey Guys!

Firstly, just picked up my 2011 Honda Jazz VTIS from my dealer last week (im from Australia). I must say, VERY happy with the car. I dont want to keep it standard for much longer and was hoping to do some minor mods to it.

Its my first post/thread in the forum, but I have been on the sidelines reading all your threads and comments. Very helpful.

Anyway, ive read through and have really tried to do my research on my question but havent found an answer so I decided to post. Here it is;

1) I am planning to lower my Honda Jazz using H&R Sport Springs (Prod# 51831) Should drop by 1.6" Front and 1.3" Rear.

2) With that in mind, I want to get a set of Linea Corse Lemans 18inch by 8 with an offset of +45. (Prefer not to roll fenders)

I was wondering if anyone has done this before, if so,

What tires should I use? and Will it fit or rub?

Ive attached a pic and an "artist impression" haha. Also attached MK'Donks car here with 17 inch LMs. Thanks guys! Please help me out!!!

Cheers!

those are nice looking wheels.

with that width and offset, you'll rub. just find a reputable shop to do the fender rolling and you should be OK.

thanks for the reply...!

So no way of fitting these wheels without rolling the fenders? Im worried about cracking the paint when rolling the fenders...

So youre saying if i rolled the fender itll fit? What tyres should I be using? thanks for the help!

if you use a heat gun to warm up the paint before rolling and really take your time while doing it then the paint shouldn't crack.

if you're really against rolling your fenders and don't want to rub why not do 17x7 +45 with a 195/50/17 tire

ps: i LUST for bbs LM's lol

18s are kinda big IMO. I remember looking at these wheels when I had my is300. Pretty legit looking BBS LM reps.

Lets see, we need to keep the tire diameter no bigger than stock - 24" (610 mm) if you don't drop the ride height. Since you are, and thank goodness your wheel offset is 45 mm. That means you need a 195/35x18 tire with a diameter of 23.4" (593mm) or less. Perhaps 195/30x18 tires (22.6" or 574mm) will be most appropriate for your drop. Here we probably don't have one of those choices but perhaps in Europe.
Be forewarned, your Jazz will look like a grocery cart with the thin tires and big whjeels and will ride like an ox cart - hard as the dickens. Buy an air pillow for each rider.
PS I couldn't find a 205 tire that woiuld work either and because that extra weight will reduce your mpg and acceleration it probably wasn't worth it.
Whats wrong with 195/40x17 tires on 17" wheels with 45 mm offset?

IMO 18s are too big unless you are going to boost it or throw a K in it.

117 HP spinning all that extra weight. Dont get me wrong I think the fit is slow with 15's or 16's but with 18's I wouldnt want to drive it.

WOW! thanks for the great advice and taking time to work it out... thanks!

ok so it is possible with 195/35/18 but I think ill need to roll my fenders as well huh... i dont think i can get 30s here in australia but will ask my tyre shop. Thanks for the input bro.

I know it could look funny with paper thin tyres. hmmm.. thats why ive been thinking getting the 17 x 7.5 BBS CH reps instead and powdercoat it gunmetal or matt black like the Black edition.

Yeh true... could use up MORE fuel as well.. haha and defeats the purpose of buying it as a fuel efficient car. hahaha

I am still thinking whether its worth it going for this or settling for the BBS CH reps.

Have a look guys and compare. which you like? haha

Anyway,

I dont want to digress too much from the topic. If anyone can help me with fitment suggestions for the 18 x 8 +45 offset it would be GREAT! Thanks!
