might be time to get new coils???

haha i mean ignition coils! but really i heard we should expect our stock coils to blow at 60,xxx ~ 62,xxx mi. but idk if its true but im getting close to that number >_< anyway gd coils are more then ge at autozone... y? i figured the gd is older so its cheaper? idk but then i got thinkin what about s2k coils? do they work or what about civics? idk i want good ass ignition coils! does any1 kno where to get them? im not paying 100$+ for oem thats 400+ im a broke college student. i found them online between 40~70$ so i figured if they do go out spend ~200. unless some1 knows a magic trick i dont?

misfire detection by the ecu will alert you when you need new coils.

If the plugs last 100k I expect coils to be at least that, if not double (triple?).

Don't fix what's not broken.

I think someone doesn't know what they're talking about.

OP change your VTEC fluid every other oil change and your coils should last at least 100k miles

Coils will last up to 100k. Your maf will go before then, giving you the misfire codes and f up your plugs. Get maf cleaner at autozone and use it around 60k... Or just swap out the maf (bernardiparts.com)...look up my k and n filter thread for the long story this is based on.

I usually cleaned my VW MAF in a baggy filled with 90% alcohol, every 40k miles, let it dry out and you're good to go

Ignition coils should conceivably last the life of the car. It is essentially a transformer with no moving parts. Just two internal coils of wire. A primary coil @ 12v input and a secondary coil @~30K output. These coils are very fine wire wound adjacent to one another. It is a turns ratio/ back EMF/ field collapse thing. The old coil/distributor set up usually lasted the life of the car. The newer coil on plug is much more compact and finer wire. It is subject to higher heat saturation. They can burn out but rarely happens. Lots of coin made on "burned out coils". The ECU reads misfires but beware it could also be an intake leak. 2000+ GMC's had very badly designed intake manifold gaskets which caused "misfires" on a scan. Folks were screwing in plugs like crazy to no avail. Not sure if Honda's read that. here is a good source of motor info: www.motormagazine.com

no just read somewhere (ill see if i can find it) that the coils due to heat and other things generallly have a life close to 60k idk but ya i chang my vteck fluid ery-day and i instal piston return springs monthly... u kno with these high reving engines u cant have ur pistons comin up. but i just replaced my turbo compressor housing brakes so i stop my turbo from over boosting, im sure all the black stuff will stop comin out my car everytime i do a vteck entry....

Don't forget to change your blinker fluid in your turn signals. Be sure to use only genuine Honda blinker fluid.
