2778-mile trip in packed '09 Sport: Stats

Drove from upstate NY to eastern WA (new job) in manual 2009 Sport with Navi, packed to the ceiling with 18 full banana boxes, a TV, a moving dolly, a folding table, a folding chair, a couple small boxes, a travel bag, and a backpack.

In total:
2778 miles
43 hours 20 minutes driving time
Average speed then (including traffic, etc): 64 mph
Gas mileage reported by the indicator: 42.1 mpg
Actual calculated gas mileage: 37.3 mpg

Always used 87 octane (or the closest octane above 87)

Best tank: 45.9 mpg (Twin Falls, ID to Pendleton, OR)
Worst tank: 29.6 mpg (Ogden, UT to Twin Falls, ID)
Best average speed : 72 mph (Elm Creek, NE to Cheyenne, WY)

Gas mileage for fiancee's 2/3 filled Subaru Forester: 28.2 mpg

Hey... The man (or woman) likes His (or her) Bananas...

Nice stats Have you had the MPG TSB done? I'm guessing not as that's a Decent Difference between calculated & the computer.

Fuel efficiency question: How many bananas did you eat during the trip?

I'm not sure what "TSB" is. I filled up right before I left and right when I arrived. The number of gallons I used in the calculation is just the total from after the departure fill-up through the arrival fill-up.

The chimpanzees at the zoo here are loving the bananas.

TSB is technical Service Bulletin. The 09 fit was known to have the MPG gauge off by 3-5mpg. a Quick Re-flash of the computer and now it's either dead-on or only 1-2mpg max.

Thanks! I actually never knew about that (and I just searched the forums and found more info). I'll definitely get it done next time I am in...

Nice Skyye!
My bro and I just ran from Tacoma to Alberta (near Rocky Mountain House) for a family reunion.
1700 miles in 5 days. We got about 37 mph going 70 over the divide and back.
I love my 2009 SSM MT.

Thanks, Krimson_Cardnal!

Fitsup, yeah, I so love it, too.

Here's the only pic we took (the pillow there is to protect the back window from the folding table ):
