You'll probably a mile or two extra out of the automatic on long freeway trips, but do better around town with the manual.

But the bigger issue is BUY A MANUAL! It's more fun. You have better control of the car in winter weather. And it makes you a real man! (unless you are a woman, but it still scores you cool points)

I find these types of post to be too childish. I've been driving stick for most of my driving life... even started with it (damn it I'm an old fart). So now I own 2 A/T Hondas... does that really make me less of a man?

If your below the age of 30 and don't have any leg injuries i don't see why you wouldn't want a manual. Its a 1.5L it needs all the help it can get.

My knees are not real good and I got shot in the R arm in Nam so I do not drive a stick. Even without that I would not drive a stick or buy a car with manual windows, no AC or a hand crank starter!

I do all short in town driving and never turn off the AC. Avg is between 24 to 29 per fill up. Not by computer actual computations. Combined driving I get 62 MPG 27 city 35 Hiway. 27+35=62! JIm

First tank of gas on my 2012, I got about 34 MPG. Probably 70% city driving, 30% highway. I'm always stuck driving in the thick of Cleveland rush hour every morning and night, so I didn't expect the numbers to be that great. It seems when I do purely highway (at around 65 mph), I get 38-40 MPG.

As for the oil change thing... So, I should get my first oil change at 1000 miles? The sticker the dealer put on it suggests 5000 miles (which I thought was pretty ambitious for any oil's life span).

So the 1,000 mile original oil change as suggested by some on this forum is a myth?

I dunno about a myth, but it's not what the guys who built the engine recommend.

i'm averaging about 34-35 mpg on a single tank of gas. that's 90% highway, 10% city. and i drive 75-80 mph on the freeway. i'd imagine if i slowed down i can get a little better.

My wife is the usual driver of our jazz, I only drive on week-ends.
She doesn't pay much attention at fuel saving, we're doing not less than 47 mpg... with a hybrid jazz

We're satisfied, as the car is only 1.3K mileage and also drive in the traffic. Great car!

i own a 09 honda Fit sport A/T and i still feel like a man. I have had my fare share of Manuel transmissions when i had my built turbocharged Accord lol. During new years i drove from utah to Denver, Colorado, i averaged about 43mpg! but Now my car sits at about 31-32 mpg in sport mode. If i switch it to D, i get about 29-30. I have new spark plugs and recently changed the oil and clean air filter. But Eff it, i still love my Fit, wether it gets amazing mileage or not!

Yeah I'm averaging about 34mpg right now in my fit. Anybody else got buddies that don't like there fit? I'm slowly trying to corrupt them. All shall bow to the power of the FIT.

I hung up my brass-MT-shifter balls when I moved to Atlanta 16 years ago. Since then my right triceps and left quadriceps have visibly attenuated. When I get out of the car I walk in circles, but at least I don't chafe.

I did have the pleasure of driving a molested 03' Civic SI Hatch yesterday my son was thinking of buying. Happily I was able to muster enough of my manhood to press the clutch and move the shifter.

We passed on the car. It's still there if anyone else wants it. It's worth maybe $3500.

When the people recommending the 1K oil change are willing to warranty the drive train for 60,000 miles. I will start listening to them JIm

Hyundai has 100,000 mile warranties.

But, if I were to do 1k oil changes, I'd be doing it every three weeks. Even doing it at every 3-1/2 months (my MM runs out at about 6k miles) is already too often for my laziness.

I would have done 6 last year. While disregarding Honda's recommendation to not change the high molly brake in oil!

Of course I am lot's smarter than Honda engineers Those idiot's clearly don't know anything about cars. JIm

We dont need no stinking Molybdenum. Everyone be sure to flush out your engine with water after every 3500 mile oil change
