yep, use heat and some practice and you're on your way! after you install the bits back onto the car, heat it up again so the material settles well. let it cure overnight.

does your car sit outside? mine sits outside where the sun hits it all day so I'm a bit concerned about get the 3m on my hood.

What do you guys think about after putting the vinyl, giving it a few coats of clear? Because honestly that's how real carbon fiber is, I don't particularly like the textured feel of the carbon because an actual piece of carbon fiber is usually smooth (ex. a hood).

Do you guys think its a good idea?

I bought my 3M DI-NOC from this guy:

Free Ship 3M DI-NOC Carbon Fiber Vinyl Black 36" X 60" | eBay

This roll is 36x60 compared to the 36x48 offered by carbonfiberfilm for $90. I was afraid it was going to be a reproduction, since it came from China. The material looks real to me and has "3M" on the peel off sheet. The first roll I received suffered damage along the edges causing bubbles to appear when rolled out. I told the seller...and now he is sending me an additional roll for free. After seeing the pics above...it looks like I can fix the first roll with a heat gun. I am just waiting for the right weather to attempt the install. Vinyl wrap places in my area charge $45 an hour for labor to install. They are telling me it will take two hours. No thanks. I will attempt to do it myself with a buddy.

di-noc is the shit! i did my mirror caps over a year ago but couldn't get one small bubble to ever lay down, i personally think large panels look too fake aand laugh when i see them (just me) the pics of the stuff on the Z look great, and concur that the roof should have been peeled
i'd just wrap the car in a matte color vinyl as to not be laughed at as "trying to look real" here is a couple things my friend has wrapped at his tint/wrap shop Envision Window Tint | Home

here is curvy

here are a couple things turned a completely different color - all matte

put his logo under it

almost done

finished

matte green BMW anyone?

motorbike?? from gloss black to matte white

and an audi

a VW

vinyl can make anything better

he does stuff i would never even try, and i've been doing fleet graphics for 10 years
vinyl is so adaptable, and all these projects are reversable!
