My wife hit a deer!!

My wife was coming home from work this evening when she had a close encounter of the "furred" kind. She got clipped by a deer.

I just inspected the damage, and remarkably, it's ONLY the passenger-side headlight assembly that got smashed. No damage to the hood, fender, or anything around the headlight. The plastic headlamp cover is broken, and the light bulb went out, but that's pretty much it. Apart from copious deer hair all over the front passenger fender, there's not even a scratch anywhere else.

She's very lucky. She's fine, but a little shaken up. No word on the deer. (D'oh, a deer.)

So, assuming that it's JUST the passenger headlight assembly that's busted, what are we looking at for a repair? We have insurance with a $500 deductible.

Edit: Oops. 2010 Fit Sport.

Check the passengers side door to see if it was pushed back...

From your title I was picturing more like this...

I love that movie.

Blackbeard, you're speaking my language. Best. Movie. EVAR.

Nope, the door seems to be okay. Opens fine, no visible signs of it being pushed back at all.

All in all, she was incredibly lucky. The deer? Why, it's in my freezer, of course. Mmmm, venison.

(Just kidding.)

Pictures please.

Of the WIFE not the car.

I kid I kid. Glad everyone is ok, and only minor damage. The headlight assembly plus bulb will cost about $300 (just going from memory from the last time i looked) at an online parts store like collegehillshonda or bernardi.

Thanks, everyone.

Thanks for the replies, both in person and in private.

We took the car to get an estimate and it turns out that there was a little more damage than what we thought -- slight damage to the fender, and some cracked paint that will rust. So it's an insurance claim for us, alas.

Now that that's done, I'm going to go out and rent Blazing Saddles again...
