Factory Spec Tires options for '09 Sport
So I've been driving around on the Contis for about 3 1/2 months and no real complaints other than the lower gas mileage. I was averaging high 30s before 37-38 MPG according to the computer and now I'm averaging low 30s (current tank was 32 MPG). So it puts a pretty good dent in your mileage. Here in Derby country, we haven't had but a few stray flakes of snow this year, so I haven't had an opportunity to see how they handle snow. No issues in rain or on dry pavement though. They feel plenty grippy. I bought the same tires for our '98 Beetle.
I've had my Kumho Ecsta 4Xs on for a month or so now and I'm glad to report not much difference in mpg. I'm at 36.5 indicated right now which is about where my stock Dunlops averaged in the same mixed driving conditions.
Plus, these Kumhos have stiffer sidewalls and really handle like on rails now, with much more confidence in corners.
