Thanks for replying. Wawanesa has this thing called Uninsured Motorists Collision Deductible Waiver coverage that I didn't buy. All I got was Liability for Property & Bodily, Collision & Comprehensive as where I live and work, there are not many illegals and I was banking on everybody do have insurance (required by law) But I guess times they are a changin'. I will probably buy that waiver after this.

Any way, thanks all for replying. I have filed a claim with Wawanesa and they told me to remove all pics so that's what I did. If they start giving me problems, I will report it here so people know.

Since I tapped Car 4, in theory I would thus be liable for any damage on that vehicle. But that person got out, saw no damage, and then took off.
In theory, you would only be responsible for the vehicle in front of you. If they claim no damage and aren't coming after you for anything, all damage should be paid for by the vehicle behind you, even if you hit the car in front of you. The person behind you has to pay for all damage to your vehicle, and you pay for those in front of you.

As for the police, if they showed up, someone should have written a report so call them for a copy. If they say there is no report, ask for the sergeant and ask why a 4-car accident with possibly uninsured motorists and damaged vehicles wasn't written up.

I have comprehensive with State Farm. I found 90% of my premium is the liability that I will be an idiot and smash up somebody else's car or skid sideways at 90 MPH into a mall or something.

I found the actual collision, comprehensive, and uninsured coverage was only about $20/mo. beyond liability only.

My buddy got hit by an insured driver! Only problem was she hit 3 or 4 cars before she hit him head on. She used up her policy before she hit him. His truck was totaled and he only had basic coverage, very expensive lesson.

you had a hit and run. you also wern't the car that started the chain reaction.

the ONLY thing they may try to get you on, is not leaving enough space even when stopped "incase" something like this happened.

but you wern't moving, and it wasn't your fault. I highly doubt you'd have to cough up a deductable - esp since driver 2 took off (leaving the scene...not good)

there had to be a reason he took off. did you get a plate # for that car?

Hi All,

Wawanesa finally paid for my car repair. I had to shell out the $500 deductible and another $200 for the car rental. I did not buy the option for Wawanesa to pay for my car rental.

Wawanesa told me car #4 (the one I hit ) would not file a claim when they contacted him. I can understand that as there was no damage, not even a scratch on the rear bumper of car #4. They also told me both car #1 (started the chain) and car #2 (the one that hit me and fled the scene) had NO INSURANCE! They told me they will sue car #1 to recoup the repair cost and will include my deductible and car rental cost in the lawsuit. However, they told me that the chances of success are very slim. They will contact me again in a few months to let me know the result. I personally think my $700 out of pocket expense is probably gone bye bye.

Anyway, I have already sold that 2010 Fit and got a 2012 instead. Hopefully the bad luck won't follow me to the new one.

just be sure to have uninsured motorist insurance and rental car payment. They're both cheap insurance.
