Big sales taxes here, so otd was 17,975 (also includes license, etc.). BUT, thanks to internet, only half hour at dealership in the whole process. Plus, got good dose of frequent flier miles on the card swipe. :p

As someone above noted, finding a base with manual was tough. Only one in stock in Middle Tennessee; luckily, not picky about color. Strange to buy sight unseen and with no test drive, but the reviews were good and it feels like a good replacement for the 1998 civic hx that my son spirited away from me earlier in the week.

Now time for the center console and rearview mirror purchases for my first personal new car in 36 years of driving . . .

Just picked up a 2012 Honda Fit Sport (AT) in vortex blue. Having the windows tinted next week (Llumar CTX 35% on the rears and Air Blue 30 on the fronts and windshield).

This will be the daily commuter for the wife and I. My poor IS350 finally can get some rest. I'm planning on updating the head unit next month. Already have some of the components, just need to find someone to install it. I'm not very good at DIY.

2012 Fit Sport MT in Black, which replaced a 2010 Base MT in White that was somehow totalled in a head-on collision at 25mph.

OTD at $18,300 in NYC with sales tax of 8.875. Price on the car was 16,500. Almost impossible to find MT's near the city, AND it took me almost 4 hours of haggling at the dealership to get that price, but it was worth it.

For anyone considering the Base against the Sport model, go for the Sport. I always thought there wasn't enough of a difference to justify the extra $$$, and that was when I didn't have cruise or keyless entry, but 1 drive in the Sport (also considering the good deal I got) was enough to convince me. The rear stabilizer bar really does help the ride, and the interior and exterior really do look that much nicer. If you aren't going to customize a Base model that is.

Drove 184 miles yesterday on $4 of electricity. Fast, fun, inexpensive to run.

Nice! A little steep for me, but living in NYC electric cars make so much sense.

Did you have to recharge to get that 184 miles? I thought the range topped out at around 120.

Just joined the forum today, but I have been "lurking" for a while. I just bought an orange 2012 Fit Sport last week.
Here in the DC area I paid $19,000 out the door, which isn't too bad. I'm happy, anyway!

Congratulations on the new Fit EV! And congrats on being featured for being the first delivery!

I do have a genuine question on what made you decide to go with the EV. With it's significantly higher price point (vs. a "normal" Fit), and the average lifetime ownership/mileage of a car, you would never end up positive.

Just curious since I was making the same argument with my parents who really want a Prius II. Even at $24K MSRP and 50mpg, you still save ~$3500 buying a Fit ove rthe course of 100K miles assuming the same price of gas and the FIT being a MSRP of ~$17something. The reason being the "normal" Fit mpg is actually rather good. The Fit EV is significantly more than the Prius II in price.

EDIT: "I just wanted that car" is a totally valid response. Haha. :P

After a few rounds of haggling, I'm the proud new owner of a Tafetta White 2012 Honda Fit Sport Auto.

I paid $18,600 OTD (which my version of OTD means after all tags/title fees/processing/other dealer BS). I think I did pretty good and I used this invaluable thread alot in negotiating, so thank you to everyone!

I am coming from a 2011 Tacoma, loved the truck but the gas mileage was killing me. I picked the Fit up last night and have been smiling since. What an amazingly fun little car. The fact that my car payment has basically been cut in half is just icing on the cake.

Hi All, David here from Massachusetts. I bought my new 2012 Fit Sport on June 8, 2012 color red. I got some good and bad comments on my new Fit but that is for another time.

the Fit isn't a luxury car, it's basically just a economical subcompact car that is very utilitarian and fun to drive. the Fit is a great commuter car.
Its one of my favorite cars and as a used car dealer I try and have one in stock.
Currently I have a 2012 Fit sport as my spare car, and luv driving around the city with it and short road trips.

Just picked up my PMM Fit Sport Auto yesterday. It is awesome, I can wait to start putting mods on it. I got it for 20k OTD and got them to throw in the security system.

Just picked up our Manual base in polished metal on Saturday. Haggled with 8-9 dealers in the area and got the deal below.

Took it for a nice spin in the country today. Loving it so far. We're hoping to have this car 10-15 years, so I'll be checking here for tips to baby it and make it last that long. Vive le Fit.

I love hearing people say that. Im a firm beliver in driving good cars 200K+ before getting rid of it.:D
