09' Replacement Fabric ???

Merry Christmas!

I bought a 09' Fit a few days ago and noticed that the left front door fabric (Black with Blue stripes) had some unsightly snags. All the other doors/seats look new.

I have seen some awesome DIY conversions from the OEM fabric to leather, pleather and velvet etc., but was hoping to find some OEM fabric so I didn't have to replace all 4 doors.

I tried to research with no luck a park number and even simply Googling OEM Honda fabric etc., does anybody know if I can buy this anywhere?

I have looked on eBay for parted out doors without much luck.

The entire interior door lining is $165 plus shipping from this site (driver's door lining is item 9). That might be the most cost effective fix.

Black3sr, thanks for the info! For a total non DYI guy on a scale of 1 to 10 how hard is this to do?

I might be getting some Clazzio seat covers so I might end up putting a some similar material on the doors.

There are a couple of threads on replacing the material.

First you need the right material as most will Not fit over the curved bit. The stuff I got is actually a bit thicker than stock. It is ventilated in that it has holes but once on does not show. Great stuff. A rich finish.

You will need a Dremel with a cut off wheel to remove the plastic rivets. You can use a knife but would be tough to do. Also need to know the way around a glue gun to put it back together.

I would say a 7-8 if you are not handy. By the time I got to the fourth one it only took me a half hour to do.

If you are going to replace a piece any how give it a try.

Thanks I will give him a PM this evening. I just got the go ahead from the CFO (my wife) to redo the panels and buy a set of Clazzios.

I think I am going to have the upholstery shop do the panels as mine would look like a 5 year old tried it.

......

The OEM fabric for the Sport looks to be a bit nicer than the Base. I have long suspected that the fabric is created by raising special laboratory mice, shaving them when they reach maturity, and then processing and dyeing the fuzz to create the fabric.

But, seriously, what is that fabric made of? It has incredible dust attracting ability, and is the least appealing quality of the Fit.

jnesselroad, thanks for the reply, I forgot to PM you a while back.

I decided to get some Clazzio's (Black, Black, Red Stitch). My car is Milano Red and thought the Red would be a nice compliment.

I am going to order from Bean Garage and they also have the extra PVC by the square meter that I think I am going to use for the door panels.

I got a estimate to pull the door panels, grind off plastic rivets, add new fabric and put back together using a washer and screw that would be screwed back into the rivet nub. It was 2 hrs. of labor at $75.00 per hour per door. 4 doors x 2 hours each = 600 dollars

I have seen the shops work and it is incredible although EXPENSIVE.

I am about as unhandy as it gets but I think I am going to try to do this on my own.

I wish somebody would make stick on kits for these panels like the wood trim kits that you see.

jelliotlevy, I have dogs and your right the fabric is like a magnet. I am going to be getting a seat of Clazzio's soon so hopefully that will solve the problem.

You drive up here and I will do them for $250 total plus material.

Seriously - that seat vinyl will be too thick to properly mold around the panel. I had tried using a vinyl and did not work at all. You need the material Jessel's friend sells.

Drive up to Canada?! Ha. I agree though, seat vinyl would be hard around a couple of the bends, and $600 is crazy!! It would look great, but I bet you could find something that matches that might be a little easier to work with even if you don't get the stuff I used.

Well I could drive somewhere and do it for free. I would just need a room and meals for a couple weeks. It would have to be someplace warm though.

Whatever they decide to use it will have to have a lot of give to stretch around the curve.

Hey it is above freezing today.
