2012 Headlight Swap

Has anyone tried to swap the 2012 headlights w/ a 2009-2011 GE8?

It will work. They fit the same way and everything if its fitment you're worried about.

Yeah I sure do see it. Im not 100% sure but 99.9% sure. There wasn't any major modifications to the car. It's still a GE chassis. So that's my reasoning. I can drop by the dealership tomorrow and double check for you but I highly doubt they would change the way the headlights mount. lol

I would really appreciate it if you would double check for me. There seems to be some debate about exactly what changed between the 2. The bumper and grill for sure...I'm hoping that doesn't affect the headlights, as I really just want a simple swap w/o getting back in the oven.

I'll see what I can find. You just want them with the trim painted black?

Yep and an OEM quality seal w/o a mangled black housing around the edges : )

I just bought an oem set of 2010 lights from another forum member. I can't text you pic's if I can find them. But I'll sell them if you want them. They have the trim painted black.

Idk Jamy...price would have to be right and they would have to be OEM quaility sealed. I would need to see the edges of the headlight. PM me and maybe we can figure something out. However, i'd still love to know about the 2012's

Oh I'll definitely take a look at both. OEM headlights aren't cheap though. last I checked like $250 or so each. I'm pretty sure I can make these look exactly how you want for a decent bit less.

I'd be down if they were leak proof and non mangled. However, i'm willing to pay whatever it takes to get my baby back to it's normal self, even at OEM prices.

Just on a whim do you think you could come up w/ a solution for my retrofit problem w/o leaving me headlightless for an extended period w/ blackedout trim?

How bad are your headlights? Can you not use them anymore?

Interestingly enough, I won't have the first pair of retrofitted 2012 sport lights. I spoke to the man that will yesterday.

Good question especially since the grill & bumper are different, but I thought the headlights were the same. Not sure anymore.

However don't the base 09-11 headlights have the same blacked out section on the headlights like the '12's? Or something similar? Gotta see some comparison pics.

Sorry to hear about your difficulties (lowkeymods), reminds me of when I first installed the ignition keyring; I thought I messed up my wiring/car, etc... Luckily I finally got a keyring that works properly.

I remember reading Jamy's thread also with his experiences. Good info.

Now I can't decide if i want the satisfaction of DIY or the painless route of getting them professionally done.

Just went to Bernardi's parts site... BASE 2009 and BASE 2012 have the same part numbers.

While the Sport do have different part numbers, we all know that the headlights are interchangeable between Base and Sport trims.

The base '09-'11 headlights are grey not black. If they all fit we have chrome ('09-'11 sport), grey ('09-'12 base) and black ('12 sport) to choose from.

Based off of what Goobers said I'd be willing to bet that they are all interchangeable since they don't change mounting points between sport and base.

Andrew, I'm not sure if you confirmed this or not. But can you check?

Wow, so much love for the 2012 headlights and rims. I actually like the look of the older tid bits better. If it weren't for the new soundproofing and the extreme used car values these days, I would have picked up an older Fit...

I have a 2009 and a 2012 sitting in my garage at the moment. Looking at the headlights, they look identical in size, only the reflectors are different. I'm pretty sure you can put a 2012 headlamp in your car. Good luck.
