All of a sudden, the hots for the 2012

I happend across some youtube vids and I'll be damned, I want the 2012. I have an '09 sport non navi with 20k on it. Excellent condition. Running the numbers with TIV from the dealer [guessing 12k], no problem making it work. I want the sport with navi, and all the other little things that come with the upgraded model/year, but just the standard package. My only bitch is that I'll have to redo the grill screen mod, but I'll reuse the one I did for my current one.

How bout it 2012'rs. Good move?

Dan

Just a thought, but you could probably get more like $14k-$15k if you were willing to sell your 2009 privately. At least that's what they seem to be going for around here with similar mileage.

Everyone must be itching to get rid of their 2012's...I keep getting mail about how they will give me 13.3-13.9k trade in for my 2009 Fit.

On KBB, for a private party sale, it's showing $15,734. That was using the very good condition rating, a Las Vegas zip code and 25k miles.

If I can get a decent tiv from my dealer, I'd rather go that way. I won't get as much as a private sale. But if I can squeeze 12.5 outa them, not bad. I wouldn't hold much hope for any dealer advertising upwards of 14k for an '09. In excellent condition with low mileage, they're still gonna come at you with 11.5. I plan on a haggle to hopefully settle in on 12.5- maybe a little more. This time around I have my Fit. I'm under no pressure now, I love what I have. But if it works out, why not upgrade? I was pissed I passed on navi and now that it has BT, I want it. Plus vehicle assist tc, a quieter ride....yeah, I wanty.

Exact same car. Just buy the 2012 wheels on eBay if you desperately want a '12. You waste your money trading it in.

It's not the exact same as one is a facelift and one is pre-facelift. $1,250 for wheels and tires on eBay... I'll sell mine for that as well if anyone is interested.

Not to mention the sound deadening which is important to some people.
And the darker headlights.

I wonder how much a modest amount of soundproofing installed at a shop would run (doors, maybe part of the floorboard)? Has anyone had this done to their '11 or earlier Fits?

Cruise control and VSA.

I did get a trade-in of 12k for an '09 Sport auto with 33k on it last August. I do think 12.5k for yours with less miles on it is not unreasonable.

But honestly I don't see the point of moving up to a mid-cycle refresh when nothing really major has changed. Its just money down the toilet basically... I wanted out of the Fit though myself.

ummm.. to me they are both (09 and 12) the same. heck i prefer the 09's sport wheels far more than the 12's.

The '09 to '11 wheels look much better to me also.

I may be in my own category, but I don't think the '12 models are enough for me to consider trading my '09 and losing out on a few thousand dollars. I do like the wider grill and the new rims look nicer. Could care less about VSA and sound deadening. I came from a 91 Civic and have great appreciation for my FIT-- especially A/C, power windows and locks! lol! That's definitely a big upgrade rather than upgrading an 09 Fit to a '12 Fit.

Meh- maybe you're all right. I don't know. Guess more thought is needed. I like the 2012 wheels, but I like the 09 wheels too- except cleaning them. Bitch to clean them if you ask me. I do really want the navi and vsa and heck, a quieter ride- cool. I know there isn't a huge diff between the two, but unless it goes hybrid, there never will be. It's likely the best the car will ever get really, unless they FINALLY close up the lower front grille- that one last thing. I'm approaching the 3 yr mark with my Fit. I'll get the best price for it now. I do like the extra features in the 2012. Not thrilled about SSM being changed a bit though. Bottom line, I think the Fit is at the best it will be and my 09 is only gonna be worth less as the clock ticks. It' really now...or never. And never wouldn't be horrible either. We are talking about the Fit.

Well said. If you want the 2012, go for it. If you stick with your 2009, you can't lose either. Like you said, it's a Fit.

I can tell you 2012 is definitely a quieter ride than the 2011. I drove a 2011 rental for a week, while my car was in the body shop and was able to compare. Not sure about 2009 and ride noise. Good luck in whatever you choose to do!

Having just jumped into a 2012 I'm holding my breath as to what the 2013 model will bring.

You're probably right about the timing of the peak value of the 09. I'd say if you're really lusting after the 2012 and it doesn't hurt the pocketbook too much go for it. Life is too short.

It'll be fun to have a new car again and trouble free maintenance!

Three years out and I still profess my love to this car when I get in it- when I approach it. When I load it up with so much stuff I'd swear it'll never all fit. It's the best car ever. LOL- hey, this is a Fit forum right? How could I pass up the opportunity to own the BEST one of the line?!
