One word of advice - if you want to do it, just do it! At the very least, go test drive the 2012 while you're deciding.

Very true, but I don't even need to drive one over the curb...unless I buy one. It comes down to a very simple thing that will either have me in 2012, or keep me in an '09;

Make me an offer I can't refuse.

I came from a 91 Civic and have great appreciation for my FIT-- especially A/C, power windows and locks! lol! That's definitely a big upgrade rather than upgrading an 09 Fit to a '12 Fit.
i agree with you for the most part. althought the whole grille touching the headlight thing is actually why i don't like it...and about the a/c thing. nice aint it? my '93 prelude didn't have it eaither or powersteering. parallel parking is so much easier now.

You will like the new car smell. It's worth it on that merit alone.

Playing devil's advocate. Don't get it. Wait until 2013. I hear it's the last year it's coming from Japan. Then you're truly getting the best one. ;-)

if you want the 2012, i would sell your 09 outright.
or push for a higher trade in value

most 09's are going for around 14-15k retail fully loaded without Navi
plus the demand is higher now and production was limited because of the problems in Japan.
I sold my 09 sport outright private sale, and bought a 2012 fit sport as well

You say you will lose thousands but do you know how much you owe? If you bought yours brand new three years ago I would think you would come close to at least breaking even upon trade in.

I like my 2012, wanted a fit since 07 so I'm glad I finally got one!
