Would Wood Grain Help/Hurt Resale

Fit Friends, so I am thinking about trading in my 2009 Fit at the end of the year and purchasing a 2012/2013 Fit.

I found a few wood grain trim kits on eBay and think they would spruce up the dash.

Here they are:

eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices

eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices

Do you think this would help, hurt or not change the resale of the Fit during trade in?

Also I have watched the videos on how to apply the trim kits, does anyone know if the liquid applicator that you put on before applying the trim piece ruins the stock trim pieces if you take off the trim later?

I am also going to get a set of Clazzio's in the near future but that is a whole different thread.

IMO, I don't think wood grain flows with the Fit's styling, it would probably only hurt resale if anything (by making it uglier). There's a lot of other stuff you can do to change the interior that would be better. It's your Fit though, do what you want.

I'm not a big fan of wood grain. Having said that, I don't think it would hurt resale. If you like it, go for it!

The Clazzio's will be really nice! You could always take those off later and sell them.

It's hard to improve the value of the car more than you'll spend on buying the improvement. And for a dealer, they aren't going to care about that stuff at all. If its to cover up damage, then it might work as a cheaper repair, but it's not likely to affect the trade in. at best, you'd hope to find a private buyer who really likes the look.

Personally, I think wood grain looks out of place in the plastic-y interior. Metal might look right I guess, but wood isn't right.

Most likely hurt the value, I for one would never want that.

I've been considering a few carbon fiber pieces. The Honda pieces are expensive, but they appear to look good. I'm just not sure yet.

I saw this thread a while back:

https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-...-trim-kit.html

and thought the blue carbon fiber trim kit looked smart and went along very well with the seats and door panels.

I have Carbon Fiber Dash trim- seems to go well with the Fit's look. The Honda pieces are too expensive plus they are not real carbon fiber.
More photos of trim kits on this thread

Try this place--they have wood grain, plus carbon fiber in a variety of colors, and plain solid color trim-- I think the brushed metal would look good in the Fit, too.

Someone on Fitfreak made an excellent wood trunk floor/liner. It was light colored and looked really great. Some people didn't like it so much though.

Real wood trumps the fake stuff, but on the dash it would be an impossibility.

Thanks for the info sooznd!

How are your trim pieces holding up? They do look great!

I'm a big fan of wood trim. I looked at the kits. The appearance in the Fit, I think, looks something like the PT Cruiser that came with the wood trim. I think any of the kits you prefer would be fine. And there are so many different types and tints of wood you can get. It shouldn't hurt any resale. IMO many people don't like the interior of the Fit without the modification anyway, so what do you have to lose except more money.

Thanks
The trim on the radio is holding up fine as is the trim on the vents. However the trim on the door switches is coming up a bit at the edges. That's where I think the Honda pieces may have an advantage, since it wraps around the edge of the switch & doesn't just stick on top. The material from Remin is nice & heavy, but not as pliable as the Honda stuff.

Thank you. I did notice the Remin pieces didn't wrap around the door switch edges. I'm not sure I like that. The Honda pieces are just soooo expensive.

I bought the carbon fiber dash kit limited for my Fit and they've been on for about 3 years now. The only problem I have is my mothers door handle trim she often pulls it off - thank goodness for double sided 3 M tape! Other than that it was been no problems.

Is that a different dash kit Cat? Thanks!

I noticed the door/window switch trim on Black3sr's car is not as long as the trim on mine--must be a different company--if the trim on mine were shorter, it wouldn't be peeling up on the edge. Maybe I will cut it off where it is unsticking.

If your plan is to "trade in" your vehicle in a year or less? Then I wouldn't bother with the Dash Kit or The Clazzio's...

Especially with a trade in, most dealers aren't going to give you more. Even if they think they can get more when they resale, they are going to lie and give you nothing for a wood dash or Clazzio's.

Why pour money into mostly cosmetic upgrades IF your plan isn't even to keep the vehicle?

The only way I make those upgrades is if I want them AND I plan to keep the vehicle.
