Opinions on body side molding?

People have suggested I get some to prevent dents and dings from jerks opening their doors--does it work? Also, is it necessary or are the people who suggested it just being overprotective?

Also, If you want to post any pictures of your car with side moldings that would be awesome too--still haven't decided if I wanna do it or not. The dealer wanted $500 with install so I told them to take a hike.

It works as well as can be expected. It's also easy to sticker the stuff on yourself.

I got mine from Zeta. Painted to match. I've had them six years, they still look good. They cost a little over $100

Any pics, spreadhead? I'm debating between the Zeta vs OEM.

Personally I do not like the way they look. As for the protection factor, every car is different and plenty of them will have doors (other body parts) that will impact the side of your Fit where there is no side molding.

For reference (and I wish I had a picture), my BMW door will hit the side of my Fit and not touch the side molding area.

Most cars around here would send a door through the window before it hit that strip. Might come in handy if you park next to exotics though.

This is another one I considered a lot and decided against. I think the car just looks better without them. Personal choices though.

Well I think they add to the look. Reduces the height visually.

Your Fit looks really nice. I never thought about reducing the visual height of the car by adding the strips. It really does diminish the boxy look of the Fit. I am a big fan of the look of your car.

I also dig the B pillar chrome pieces. It really looks hot on a white Fit.

Quick questions:

Are your brakes painted blue? how is the paint job holding up?

What did you use ( Decals / hand paint) to get the H logos on your rims blue? Can you post a nice pic of this? I would like advice or your experience getting the logos and brakes blue. It's really sharp IMO.

What's the emblem under the Fit emblem in the rear?

I think the fit looks a little worse with them installed, IMO, but I got them because my garage parking can be tight and they are at the right hight to block my other car's doors.

How hard is it to put on yourself, I'm assuming there is a template?

Real easy. Theres a paper template that you tape to the door. Then you line up the molding and pull the backing off the 3M tape. Check one of the online parts dealers for a PDF of the instructions.

Thanks.

I did the brakes 3 years ago. The drums are holding up well but the calipers could use a touch up. I used Duplicolour from Crappy Tire.

The emblem under the Fit is SPORT - $5 at Wal-Mart.

The H's on wheels are vinyl. I got them from someone on here.

I like the stainless pillar bits. Some do not. I also have them on my Caravan.

The wheels pics - I have since added Honda valve caps as well. They have little H's on the tops.

and a Habs fan too

I was a Yankee fan back in the 50s when Mickey and Yogi etc were playing. Use to listen to them from a NY station that we got in Eastern Ontario. Once George came along I stopped. Now a Jay fan.
