[Fit 2012] Playback via iPod Question

Hello,
I have an iPod classic and a touch. They work perfectly through the USB adapter. The problem is, I have to use the audio controls on the dashboard to playback songs. I think its much harder to navigate via the dashboard buttons and am trying to find ANY alternative to this while using the car's speaker system.

My question: Is there any way I can use the iPod itself to search and playback the songs? Do you think it would work if I used the AUX port instead of the USB port?? Is there any alternative? Should I call Honda customer service or my local dealer? let me know - thanks

The way I do it if I want something specific: If I know well in advance, I'll set a playlist up, as playlists are easier to get to. (though that might just be for the navi fit version)

If I'm just in the car and want something, unplug the iPod, find the song/album, whatever that I want, then plug it back into the dock connector.

My general overall approach is to create a giant smart playlist of music (excluding stuff like xmas music, podcasts, etc) and just have the car play that, though I can see that's not what everyone wants.

I have a 2012 Fit as well. No Navi.

It is a bit more difficult to find specific songs FAST.

You can use the AUX to solve your problem but it kind of takes away from the direct link features in your stock system. I am convinced using the AUX feature takes away from the sound quality. Aux is not as PURE as the USB port function.

I have an IPOD Touch I bought second hand just so I could leave it in the car connected with to the USB and I leave it in the upper glove compartment all the time. When I get close to the house it will synch any changes I make via iTunes.

My work around is to have all kinds of playlists.

It is easy to navigate, using the stock radio, the different play lists you make on iTunes.

Make playlists on iTunes and you will find it easier than having one huge list.

Hopes this helps!

It's not perfect...but it FITS.

PS Post a pic of your car why don't you? We like that on here.

unplug it,
find the song on the ipod,
plug it back in.

Playlists are the only way to go with an iPod. (At least you can have them on an iPod - imgaine navigating an 80GB USB Hard drive full of MP3?) I have an 80GB iPod classic and it takes me about 200 twists of the knob to get to the end of my artist list and it is a hassle. I'll likely upgrade the stereo at some point but for now, random is fine.
