Trip to Vegas

We took our 2012 Sport Fit to Vegas. We live in the Fresno area. The car seems to be a excellent long distance travel vehicle. No driver's fatigue and mileage seemed better than expected, near 40 mpg. Found that it was best to turn the air conditioner off during the steep hills. It seemed to assist the car. Never needed any high revs with the car staying in the 3-4000rpm band with my automatic. Didn't seem to need the "flippers". We have owned the car for near 8 months and the more we use it the more we like it. We may buy another one next year.

We had one problem. Putting a file cabinet in the back and it appears that it scratched the top part of the bumper. Our Fit has two paint chips on the top of the bumper. Will probably go to the dealer and get some touch up paint. Any members tried using any of the touch-up paint?

I have used the touch up paint to cover a few scratches and chips. It works great but as with any touch up paint you WILL notice it if you look close enough. Otherwise it's pretty unnoticeable.

Ditto, I used some touch up paint for a small rock chip on my hood and it blends pretty good given that there is no clear coat over the top of it. It becomes more apparently when the sun is shining and you so the glassy shine on the rest of the hood but not on the little chip spot. However, if you have the red finish I believe I've read here that it doesn't use a clear coat so it may look better?

I have a 2012 Red Fit Sport and got a scrape on the bottom of the front end. I think it's called a spoiler. I got the touch up paint from a honda dealer and the results were good. Insread of putting the paint on heavy, put it on in light layers with a day between coats. It's about as good as you can get unless you go to a body shop.

RE: turning off the AC during climbs - I do that too, and I read that sliding the outside air vent to inside air circulation while the AC is on is also a good alternative if you don't want to turn the AC off. Glad to hear you had a good experience on a road trip! We're taking my new '12 Fit on the road next week. I heard that the sun can beat down thru all that glass (gotta love the panoramic view in the front seats) so I ordered a custom Fit sun visor and some sticky sun visor decals from Amazon.

I've used touch-up paint on other cars and it has helped things. No more chipping or rust around the scrapes. Just don't look too close ... nobody else will anyway.

I refer to my AC button as the "Turbo Boost".

We used touch-up on the civic (and soon the ridgeline) and it works well.

You might want to consider the rear bumper appliqué to cover those scratches and prevent more . I'm gonna get one myself so that my corgi doesn't scratch the bumper going in/out. Cost around $45 online.
