Car Cover

I just got a 2011 Honda Fit. What car covers do you guys recommend? It won't be garaged, but it will be parked in my RV parking so I want to keep a car cover on it on days I don't use it. I don't want to spend too much on it. Any recommendations?

my buddy and i bought a couple of good car covers for our garaged cars at autoanything.com

they have good prices and selection. check them out. im not sure if mine is a full outdoor cover (this is for my 370Z i hibernate in the winter inside my garage) but i have a quicksilver brand cover. the fit is perfect, has a window for the rear plate in case cops want to check registration, watnot, and folds easily and small, comes with its own storage bag.

In buying a car cover, don't skimp on the money. The old saying "you get what you pay for" applies double for car covers. They take a lot of abuse and a good one will last for years.

I have used outdoor car covers for years on various cars. I like the Evolution fabric, I think they are up to Evolution 4 now.

Keep in mind that you are protecting your car from the sun and dirt, but not from water. A good car cover will allow some water to seep through, in doing so it also allows the cover to breathe.

The Sunbrella fabric is the most durable but is also the most expensive. I have a Sunbrella boat cover and after 10 years of exposure to the sun, it still looks great.

Pay for a custom fit cover, you will regret buying one of the one size fits all types.

Buy the under the car security cable. It won't deter thieves but it will keep the car cover from blowing into the next county on a high wind day.

I recommend these guys for all your car cover needs:

| Big Sky Car Covers

They are quick, nice people when you need to talk to them.

By the way, car covers are high on the list of items thieves like to take. Especially a good one. What I do, when I get a brand new one, is to place it on the driveway, and graffiti the hell out of it with a can of spray paint. It doesn't not affect the functionality of the cover, but it does make it so ugly, the thieves won't be able to resell it on Ebay.

Take care,

Flea

great, so you block all the pores for the cover to breath with your artwork.

Always a smart ass. You don't paint the cover entirely. You put just graffiti here and there to diminish its value to thieves but not enough to diminish its effectivity. Furthermore you don't soak the damn think in paint, just light surface spray paint, you won't be blocking any pores.

If you want it to look pretty, its not for you, but if you want to keep it, it works.

Covercraft. Got one for my 2010 2 years ago.. Perfect fit, lasted in the AZ sun, still like new. Call them directly, and sometimes they have scrap material...enough for you car, and you get it at a discount.. Great people. Paint your license plate number on the back. less theft.
