Swapping New Engine into My Fit.

Hey guys so I have a question my uncle is giving me his k20 from his RSX that they crashed into. The engine only has 35,xxx miles. He also has a turbocharger for it Here's my question should I swap the L15 for the k20. My engine right now only has 15,xxx. Please help.

Get each of those miles on your car and roughly convert them to dollars, and if it's still worth it, go for it. haha

If you have the money for all the custom modifications then do it. It won't be an easy swap

Yes if you can afford to have your car not running for an extended amount of time go for it. As far as I know there is no roadmap for you for K series into USDM GE8 swap, so be prepared to do research and get creative.

I also would worry more about the down time/swap cost than the mileage.

How much 'help' is he going to give you? That exchange is a hefty task and pile of money.
Otherwisde, I'd keep the stock engine.

Take the K20 rebuild it and take your time, then start buying all the little things. If you move slow enough someone may come out with a swap kit for the GE8 or you can save up to have the mounts made. GL and keep us posted

Hahaha Which one?

The Fit is coming along slowly, the FlashPro is going to be a big leap forward and save a ton of hassle and money. The Built motor is in hiding. The mock-up motor is on the stand and the only thing I've actually done to the Fit in the last two weeks was remove my Throttle Controller.

The Race car though is moving much quicker:

Hoping just a couple weeks left before it's running again.

I'm probably selling my Honda ATV if anyone is interested. Found out the early 1970's Honda ATC Three wheelerss have a bit of a cult following and it would be blasphemy to cut it up the way I had planned.

Ton of fun though!

Thinking about making a sale thread here soon.. Anyways getting off topic lol

It took many months of back and forth with multiple reps trying to make my case before I finally found one that would entertain the idea of Fit FlashPro.

You are asking why I took the turbo out of my GD?

I only put it on the confirm my theory that the GT2554R was too small in either turbine housing for our 1.5L motor. Even with stock redline and stock VE.

The GT25R is easily the most common turbo for Fits at the moment, almost all Kits with the exception of the Greddy Kits used this turbo, and they stuff it into the smallest housing Garrett offers.

A turbo that size, intended for performance or aftermarket in my opinion.. should not be put on a high-rpm gas motor of 1.5L... L12A would be the biggest Fit motor I would consider.. even then I would use the Bigger .64A/R housing.

Didn't keep it for very long at all and sold it to fund the motor build and other hardware for a more serious setup.

You have to remember that at the same time the Fit was Turbo'd I had two other turbocharged cars that were much faster... My old laser with the Borg Warner S200SX-59 and a custom set of big cams, as well as the Eclipse with the HKS 272s and a modified S16G turbo.

Which is why I am biding my time to do it right this time out and build a setup with a fat torque curve and endless pull up top. Now that FlashPro is available, everything else as far as hardware has already been decided and as soon as the Eclipse is "done" for next season I can turn my focus back on to the Fit.
