New Honda Fit Sport - chaning tires/wheels dealer wants $280
Hi,
My Fit is still at the dealership because of the storm and my wheels/tires/tpms from tirerack are somewhere on a UPS track.
I asked the dealer how much it is going to cost to have new wheels installed and tpms reprogrammed and they said $280. They charge $105 per hour.
Does is really take almost 3 hours to get it done? I will call other Honda dealers around when I get a moment.
EDIT:
I made a typo. I meant "CHANGING".

Bear in mind I live in Westchester County, NY.
My Subaru dealer was no better. At least I made friends with one of the mechanics so I can get things fixed cheaper.
Are you changing wheel or just tires on you OEM wheels. If it is just tires on your OEM wheels, Walmart will do it and balance them for $10 per tire. Also look on Tire rack's web site. They have local installers for you. Discount tire is one of their local installers. I had my Honda Fit tires installed and balanced by Tire Rack at one of their warehouse locations also for $10.00 each. I was in and out in less than 30 minutes.
The Honda Dealer is ripping you off (as usual) but some people still pay it.

Another vote for Wal Mart. I replaced tires on my wife's Camry and just brought in the tires I got at a screaming deal and they charged 10.00 per wheel to mount them and did a great job as well. No scratches etc. on the rims.

I am changing everything. I've got a whole package from tirerack that is tires, wheels and TPMS. I asked them to install tires onto the wheel.
I need to have new wheels installed, aligned and tpms reprogrammed.
I will try Mavis Discount Tire first. Do you service your Hondas at Honda dealerships?
You could buy this:

and do it yourself. That's what I use for my 2009 Fit. It will tell you the IDs for your existing TPMS for when you swich back and you must enter the IDs for the new ones. Tirerack gave me the ID information when I bought the wheel/tire/tpms set.

That is exactly what I need. There is no way I will pay more than $100 for that.
I send my wife in an SI 2012 to get wheel locks installed since dealer owed us free install. I told my wife to ask politely about the pricing. I am pretty sure it is going to be a different discussion if I go there. I love asking for a cost breakdown. I made a switch to Honda from Subaru so I can have 5 dealers to choose from instead of one which very far from our house.
To me the 280 price sounds about right as a 4 wheel alignment is normally ~139, say 100 for the tpms reprogram and 40 for the installation of the wheels.
So if the above is true, your going to need the wheels and tires (which im assuming are coming mounted/balanced from tire rack) installed onto the vehicle. A 4 wheel alignment and the tpms reprogrammed.

Yes, precisely.

I think a lot of doughnuts for the guys at a dealership might help.
Also, OP, if you are having an alignment done, that's where the real cost is coming in. Reprogramming the TPMS shouldn't be more than about $100 as others have said.
