It's a shame that you always have to be leery of any correspondence you get on something you advertise.

I had someone send a few of them to me because i said i lost one and the other one my dog ate and so on. They sent 4 of them which in the end cost them around $50...so i scammed the scammers.

When ever I get these responses to an ad when I'm selling something I always request that they call as soon as possible since I can give them a really great deal if I can speak to them. The number I give them to call is for the closest local FBI field office.

For some reason I never hear back from them.

Its a scam. I remember my brother once tried to sell his subaru part on craigslist and he was gonna send it till I looked at his emails. I said to my brother that y is the buyer gonna send someone to come get it. Why is he threating you to cash the checks. Lucky I stop my brother and the guy was all like YEAH AM GONNA GET THE FBI ON U. I was like ughhhh yea sure dude. If someone really wanted a car they would come and see it.

I suppose you don't really expect to see a woman's name on the scam. Interesting part of the psychology of the male mind.

Scam, I wouldn't have responded at all.

Here are some tips that I do when I sell stuff on CL
---
Always ask for persons' number in the response email if they are serious.
Always meet in the day time with a friend to tag along with you.
Do the transaction at a bank, and ask them to take the money out when you see it with your eyes.

Source: personal experience.

95% of the responses you get on CL from an auto sale are scams/phishing.

I had a guy try and get me to accept a cashiers check drawn on a bank in Nigeria. Of course, he wanted the stuff sent the day I got the check. No way. the cashiers checks are from a phony bank in Nigeria. anything not cash...forget it.

Check out
Welcome to the 419 Eater
Where the scambaiters tease and humiliate the scammers.
Some of the stuff these people put the scammers through is unbelievably hysterical.

As far as your sale, cash only, and conduct the transaction in your bank.

It was definitely a scam. I had it happen to me yesterday. I called PP and they told me it was a scam. I forwarded all the emails to PP (spoof@paypal.com) that I received from the "dummy" PP site and they said they would investigate. I then texted the scammer and said; "nice try asshole"
