not so good vibrations

I've been resisting the urge to post this... but I give up.

So, ever since I got my last flat tire, I've been getting these vibrations that come and go. They're not very noticeable, in fact, if I'm even slightly distracted, I wouldn't notice them. But, when I am focusing on it, I notice them.

Now, the issue is, that not only are they soft, but they come and go. It's kinda like how the roads leading up to the tollways used to be (before "full" speed i-pass system). it vibrates for a split second, goes away for the "few" split seconds, then vibrates again, etc.

To me, it doesn't seem like something on the tire... because it seems longer than what I think it would take for the tire to rotate 360 degrees.

I want to think it's the road surface, because the roads LOOK like they would cause it... but it's freakishly consistent. But then again, it feels like it goes away on VERY newly paved roads (if they look flat).

I had hoped it would go away when I got the engine mount replaced... but I guess not. Right now, it annoys me and kinda worries me. I mean, I am really hoping this doesn't blossom into something else that needs $$$.

edit: I wanted to add that I don't feel the vibrations in the steering wheel... or much else beyond my feet actually.

When you got the flat fixed, was it at a shop? Most shops will unmount the tire to plug the leak. Could be a minor balance issue caused by putting the tire back in a different spot.

I pretty much feel it at all speeds, 30-40 local and 65-80 highway.

I took the tire off and put it back on myself while it was flat. Just took a while to actually fix it, since I made one attempt to fix myself (and failed). I just couldn't muster the strength to push the plug in, it kept mushrooming (maybe because i didn't pressurize the tire?). The flat was on a rear tire.

One of theses days, I'm gonna do some maintenance (shocks and brakes). I'm wondering if I blew a shock (I know the truck blew its shocks).

Wait, you took the tire off the wheel or you just took the wheel off the car?

If you dismounted the tire from the wheel you have to re-balance it. This wheel and tire are in the front or back of the car?

Could be both weak shocks and slightly misbalanced wheel combined.

oh, no. sorry, i misread. I just took the wheel off the car. the tire never came off the wheel either.

the wheel and tire that got flat is the rear passenger side. i wonder if the guy that I got to install the (new) tires on my wheels, maybe didn't completely balance it.

and also, apparently, i stand corrected. I do feel the vibrations in the steering and seat. I almost want to say it feels like a slow "shockwave" from below. Sometimes it feels like it comes from behind... other times, it feels like my seat and feet feel it at the same time.

it's just weirding me out.

Damaged tire, damaged wheel, or damaged CV joints. Jack up the front and spin the tires slowly checking for out-of-round and trueness (wobbles). If it looks ok I'd have the axles and joints checked.
