prepping for spring maintenance...input desired
prepping for spring maintenance...input desired
Hello All,
As I will have close to 98,000 by this spring on my 09 I am prepping for some spring work:
-Brake fluid replacement, suspension component check while everything is off. Possible brake and rotor replacement cuz I'm not feeling these slotted and drilled rotors/ brake combo I have on. Thinking off going back to just slotted with hawks or akebono's
- AT drain and fill, I did on at 94 and it felt great. May not need another one but I noticed some gunk (shavings) on the plug before I did the last drain and want to be sure its all out of there
-possible alignment (nyc roads are shit and I'm surprised by how well this car deals with them, though its hella harsh on swifts)
-air (i alternate between my K&N and an OEM to give the former time to dry between cleanings....like a week!) and cabin filters, wiper inserts, blah blah
AND NOW THE PART I NEED HELP WITH:
I want to replace the plugs. I see on these threads that coil packs are a weak spot for this car and to check the plugs.
Now what plugs are best?
can coil packs be upgraded? I was on autoanything and they had tons of ignition upgrades, though I'm not sure what can be used by the fit, even though I specified the make in their search engine. Here is what I found:
Ignitions System Parts - Spark Plugs, Performance Spark Plugs
anyway any advice would be appreciated. While I'd love a new car, I have too strong of fondness for the fit....I walked out of three dealerships recently because I cant let her go

For plugs i'd stick with Denso or NGK.
NO BOSCH NO AUTOLITE.
Personal preference from past experiences.
Don't worry about coil packs until they fail. Maybe pick up one as a spare just in case one does fail so you can still get around. Multiple failures at the same time are unlikely, but you'll know the time may be coming for the others when the first one does fail. This is what I plan to do when I start getting towards that 100k mark (if they haven't started failing yet). Got a ways to go.
