Shifter cover/boot options

I know its a small thing, but the shift boot in my '10 GE is already starting to look like crap. Im sure its probably because I have massive hands and my pinky rubs the front of it all the time. But none the less, im looking for a replacement. Not just a stock replacement like the suede ones found on ebay, but something like the rubber ones from the first gens, or something like H-fit has for first gens as well. Anyone have any recomendations or experiences with any other options?

Here is the link for the one from h-fit incase you have never seen it.
H-Fit.com - Performance Products for your Honda Fit GD3 and GE8!!!

Thanks guys!

I have one sitting in my garage i'm going to try to put on there after I order my SS. The GD boot is round and the GE boot is oval. I think i'll just be able to use the GE plastic mount and form the rubber boot to fit, but i'm not 100% sure how it's going to work out.

In for info from people that have done this already.

I purchased a leather shift boot for my old Miata from Redline Goods and really liked it
Honda Fit 2008-13 shift boot - RedlineGoods leather shift boot store

Their e-brake boot looks awful though

I bought an OEM replacement, then wondered how hard it would be to redo my current boot. Pulled all the stitches, made templates from the old sections, cut from canvas new boot sections, and stitched it back up. Less than an hour to do, and I like it better than I do my OEM boot.

Here's a few pictures of the end result:

And good luck getting this band off. When you put your boot back together, just use a few rubber bands.

To get the ring off the top of the shift boot on the stock one, do you just pry it off?

If you mean the silver trim piece, no. The entire center console has to come out. It's one phillips screw, two plastic flat head screws at the front and the rubber cover under the handbrake has to come off. The boot is held in with 4 phillips screws. If you want video help, College hills honda does a video where they install a short shifter, its a similar process to get the console out.

If you mean the collar (the small black ring holding the boot up) you have to pry off the thick unforgiving rubber band from the inside of the boot, then the collar just comes right off. A piece of advice, don't try to put the black band back on. If you want to use the collar (plastic ring) by all means, use it. Just wind a regular thick mailing rubber band around it a couple times on the inside. It's easier to take off later if you ever have to.
