Sick and Salty - my first ding on my car

So i lent my car to a coworker for a meeting he had (all company cars were out) because i was nice and he really is a good guy. But upon examining my car last night i notice a (several) scratches to my cars driver rear bumper. I was sick.

so today i approached my corworker and asked him if he notices a scrap as he was leaving the parking structure where my car was. (i usually park next to this column; which i inspected today - looks like a winner).. he said no..
what can i say.. *sigh*

anyone know of any corner bumpers that i can cover it up with? i remember seeing some japanese brand that covered a fairly large portion that might mask it.. or if anyone has any idea how to fix it..

the picture doesnt do it justice.. it looks pretty bad to me..

I'm no body guy, but that looks like it could be buffed out.
And hopefully this time you learn to never lend your car to someone if you're unsure of how they drive.

Oh that's a different story. I can't see that cuts from the pic. Maybe a touch up pen + buffer?

Sadly, dings are just a matter of time if you drive your car at all. The first ones just puts a deeper ding in the psyche than the physical ding on the car. Doesn't matter who's driving.

Yours doesn't look that bad at all. The next ones won't feel as bad...

*Pats on the back*

It'll be ok buddy, just accept it. At least your car is white, with my black car I see all the new dings and scratches and still puts me in rage that I wanna strangle someone. Specially when you park at the mall/grocery.

If you do have the touch up pen, do it then LIGHTLY buff it. The reason I put the word in caps is because I've seen it happen, heavy hands + high powered buffer = bye paint.

Aw the honeymoon ended

It's ok, paint pen and buff like has been said.

I have to park on a public street and on a hill, you should see my rear bumper . Getting a garage and driveway in a month, so i'll go at the paint repairs then, already got my paint pen handy

I can't really tell how deep it is. But I would try using compound with a mirco fiber towel and hand buff. That's what I do when I get scratches. But my fit is black hahaha.

your pic is broken, so I can't tell.

The phrase "that'll buff out" isn't just a throwaround phrase.

You maybe be pleasantly surprised that yes the discoloration is mostly on the surface, and you still have paint underneath.

So yes, cutting compound and magically most of it'll come out. Then if it really is through all the color layers, touchup if you must.

If not, badge of honor for now. When you rack up some more dings, you can take it in for repaint and you will be back to new (if the shop is good)

I know just how you feel. I backed my pristine 2012 Fit into another parked car to get out of a parallel space and scratched and creased my bumper about a week ago. Luckily, the license plate holder on the other car is what I hit and the other car didn't have a scratch on it. I'm hoping I can buff out most of scratches, but the crease in the bumper is there to stay.

If somebody hits YOU, then they pay for the repairs, there is nothing out of your pocket.

Was it a hit and run?

I think we're missing some part of the story.
