Recommended cabin air filter brands?

I want to replace the cabin filter. Are there any brands for the fit that include activated carbon that are recommended?

(And if not, what non-carbon filters brands do you prefer for your Fit?)

I'm happy with the ones Amazon sends me. You have to cut a couple of plastic spines, but it takes only a second to do so, and you save about $10 in comparison to the OEMs. These filters aren't charcoal, however.

Go with whatever is cheapest. You are better off just replacing more frequently with the cheapest filter then spending twice as much for a fancier filter.

As far as activated carbon, take it if you can find it for free or just a little bit more. You can absorb odors probably better with a baking soda fridge pack in your car. If your carpets smell, sprinkle the baking soda on them and let it sit for a bit before next vaccuuming

Pucci,
Good morning,
I am the tech manager at FRAM. The FRAM Fresh Breeze cabin air filter is carbon activated and has Arm and Hammer baking soda impregnated into it to absorb odors. The part number is CF11182, you can get it at most auto parts stores and on amazon. It has a QR code on the back you can scan with a smartphone that will take you to a step by step installation video too.
There is a lot of information about cabin air filters at FRAM.com

Just knock the crap out of the old one and add a clothes dryer sheet to the top of it. Nice clean laundry smell.

I would have purchased your recommended filter, even though it costs more than many other brands, except for this fact that you seem to be unaware of:

These are the only GE Fit filters that are available from Amazon. Your FRAM part number is not among them. The CF11182 filter is not listed at all.

I used a Beck Arnley cabin filter from Amazon.

Beck Arnley 042-2153 Cabin Air Filter : Amazon.com : Automotive Beck Arnley 042-2153 Cabin Air Filter : Amazon.com : Automotive

It fits perfectly, without modification. Picked up both their cabin and air filter for $35 and replaced them myself.

Dealer wanted to charge over a $100 to replace both.

I didn't know what to get, so I stopped by Auto Zone last week. They had to special order it, because my 2012 Fit is still too new, he said. It cost $32, which seemed high to me, but it was the first replacement I've had to order, so I thought I'd try it out.

I got an STP CAF1873P.

It fit pretty well (may have been about 1mm too large) but it didn't have a line of glue (acting like a spine?) down the middle.

I'll probably order online next time for cheaper.

It's still a heck of a lot cheaper than dealer wants to charge to replace.

Some on here even wrap the filter with some sort of mesh to prolong the life of the filter.

Putting mesh on a filter is counterproductive.

If you want to prolong the life, just take it out and shake out the larger debris and vaccuuming it.
Or leaving the filter in, and the accumulated dirt itself is a "pre-filter" to the filter

Not sure why you want to prolong the life of something basically disposable.

For my lawnmower a prefilter is needed, but a car on the road unless under severe dust conditions shouldn't need one, or changing before the oil filter, with 6000 plus miles and only at 50% it will be next year before an oil change is needed at about 12000 miles. Haven't figured out how to get more air into the cab, maybe changing the filter will do it, even if it is a new car? 2012 sport, I'm sure the dealer would be happy to do it.lol
