Considering a '13 base (or civic LX) need help

OK, So I'm looking to buy a new car this week.
I have it narrowed down to a New 2013 Fit/Base model or a leftover 2012 Civic LX which are about the same price. Also considering a 2013 Civic LX coupe for about $1500 more.
I've driven both and I'm having a hard time deciding. I was hoping you could help. I've got prices for a 13 base with auto in the range on $16.5-$16.9
Are you happy with your Fit decision?
Points I came up with are:
- Fit might be more fun
- Civic gets slightly better mileage
- Civic might have a slightly better resale
- Civic seems to be a little more "up-scale"
- Fit has more storage.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Correct.

The cars are very different; you should have no trouble deciding which is best for you.

Sounds like you are bang on on your descriptions of the differences. After that, you are just going to have to pick which one you like best. Do a few more test drives, see if a dealership may let you do an extended 24 hour test drive.

Last weekend, I traded my 2010 Fit Sport Auto for a '13 base manual, and my wife just bought a '13 Civic LX coupe.

There was a '12 Civic on the lot but the suspension didn't feel as composed as the '13 and had more wind noise. The '13 was also more apt to downshift when you prod the throttle.

I averaged 35 mpg (60% hwy) in my Fit Auto, and she's averaging 34 mpg (30% hwy) in the Civic.

She liked the Civic for it's sporty looks, good ride, light steering, and standard bluetooth/backup camera.

I got the Fit manual because it's more engaging to drive and more practical. The Fit is basicaly our SUV, and the Civic is the "sports car".

FWIW, our 50lb lab mix doesn't like getting in the back of the coupe, but happily jumps into the backseat of the Fit.

If head-room is a factor for you, definitely give the fit a second look.

For our family, storage was a huge consideration.

Love it that we can put the rear seats down and stuff it full of stuff for a long road trip. I liked the Civic, but the Fit was more practical for us.

Either way you'll get a Honda.

I missed you were talking about a 2012 Civic, not 13. So that would actually be real dumb.

I was mildly hoodwinked into the LX of the '13 FIT line, but I like it.
First time the phone rang and bluetooth took over, and crystal clear. nice.
A/C: resale value if I need it, and well, the odd traffic jam will be more enjoyable.(odd one, cause I don't do alot of highway)
One morning, um day 3 I had it, I didn't wanna scrape mirrors and risk any damage just yet...Oh ya! heated mirrors!
cruise control: even between lights doing 50 kmh hehe
- tap clutch or brake and it's off, haven't checked what happens when I pop it out of gear, yet.

LX has its perks, yup, not bad at all.

Ewww 2012 Civic. Yuck. I'd rather have a 2011 Civic than a 2012.

I want those blasted heated mirrors! I wish we could get them in the US.

I may just have to make a trip up some time and hit a junk yard, get the heated mirrors and that bigger windshield washer fluid holder.

You obviously came to the wrong place to ask this sort of question. It's like going to Apple forum and asking what to get, Android or Apple OS device.

I own both an '09 Fit Sport and an '09 Civic LX-S. The Fit is by far the more fun car to drive.

Really depends what you need the car for. Civic has more passenger room in the back, but Fit has more storage room. The Fit is also easier to park in the city. I think the Civic has more aftermarket parts, so it's easier to rice out

There is also age to consider.
I didn't think through how old i'd be at the end of the warranty.
- the bones might be a bit sore to be pushing a clutch.
Bring on the tylenol, rub A535, and the dancing girls... it's always time for the dancing girls!

Not the same. Honda makes the Fit and Civic. Apple doesn't make Android.

I had this VERY exact same dilemma when i was shopping for a new fuel eco car for work commute between the same cars. Franky you can guess what i ended up with.

Civic Pros:
-More power, refined, quieter, a bit more upscale like you say.
-Awesome I-mid setup (i like it)

Civic Cons:
-Back seat feels smaller despite EPA leg room estimates, the fit feels roomier backseat oddly.
-Cannot carry my bikes inside without dis-assembly
-Cannot do IKEA or Costco runs or carry large objects
-Priced higher then Fit buy a decent amount ($2300 more at the time of my Fit shopping)

Fit Pros:
-More room inside then the exterior would otherwise states.
-Fuel economy actually better then EPA estimates and also better then Civic despite what the EPA rates it as.
-Backseat space is actually acceptable for up to 6 foot people.
-Versatile interior allows me to carry my road and mountain bikes without taking it apart.
-Handles very nimbly for a low cost car

Fit Cons:
-Noisier interior, choppier ride
-Lack of power
-Cheap interior build materials

Not exactly, measurements states its clear cut more room BUT the back seats on the Fit sit considerably higher so your legs dont fold upwards like they do on the Civic. I have a buddy who is 5'11 about 290lbs and even he finds the Civic rear seats unbearable (legs folded to the side because lack of room) but yet doable on the Fit because of the extra height. He also has big feet (size 13 shoes) so the Fit has alot of foot space because of the room under the bench plus under front seat while the Civic you have to fold your feet sideways if you got big shoes.
