GE8 Manual Shift Knob

I was wondering if the stock OEM shift knob came with red stitching oppose to the blue stitching? I have looked everywhere on the internet and all I can come up with is the blue.

I have a red stitched shift boot in my GD3 so I was hoping for a red stitched shift knob to match.

I did see a 2005 leather civic si shift knob with red stitching. On ebay it says it is not compatible. Aren't all shift knobs usually compatible?

Yes it's compatible. Thread pitch is the same. eBay doesn't give you the option to pick "all Honda" or at least doesn't make it easy to. I couldn't figure out how to anyway lol

What is a 6 speed knob? Both photos shown are 5spd.

That is an ep3 shift knob. Also known as SiR. The second picture I showed was of a 2005 civic Si which is 5spd.

Check out the link above. College hills honda has the red stitch jdm one. It's a good deal.

That looked like a LX-EX with an Si shifter actually. SI=Sir Sir is just what it was badged in canada. Only the Type R was radically different.

Canadian Si is the same as US EX, D17 SOHC and 5 speed.

Canadian SiR is US Si.

That's an interesting tidbit for that shift knob, red stitching is nice and adds another classy OEM upgrade for US 5 speed Hondas without the JDM inflation.

Is it like the Oem Prelude shifter where the base of the shifter locks into the top of the boot? Just asking because the chrome piece looks like it holds the boot up.

\chrome piece is not my concern

not sure if it is the same as the Prelude.

I just like the shape of the shifter with red stitching to match my interior. I find that the leather shift knob is the closest I can find to a stock Fit shift knob that is leather with red stitching and OEM.

Other guy who found a link for the shift knob, $250 is not a good deal. I already have the boot, only need the knob, not paying $250US plus shipping. Outrageous!

Damn, the JDM Honda black leather w/red stich shift knob & boot combo is now ~$210 + shipping...
Glad I bought it when it was ~$130... It was even less when they first started selling it.

If you want OEM just order the knob by itself from Japan (japanparts, yahooauctions, rakuten, etc., etc...)

This is what I mean. your gonna have to modify it because its designed to hold the factory boot up.

I might just do that, get the OEM shift knob with the red stitching off of the civic ordered from Japan.

Im still lost Krunk, im not sure what you are trying to explain. So by the looks of it, the OEM shift knob is from an EP3. \I guess thats what I need to buy. Dont understand what you mean about modifying it as I am not installing it on a rubber shift boot, rather a leather one. The video posted showed removing it from ep3 civic with rubber shift boot. My knob is going on a leather shift boot as shown in one of the first pictures I posted. Thats how i expect it to look in my fit installed. No gap, shift knob right to boot. So having said that, if i go out and buy an ep3 civic shift knob, will it still need modification to be put on a leather shift boot? I dont not see why it would. It seems to fit perfect in my second picture on a regular civic.

That Chrome piece is the locking mechanism that connects to this. Lots of OEM honda shifters have this. Im just saying you might have to cut it off depending on how big the hole is on your boot.

Edit: that civic in the ebay picture is using the same mechanism to hold the boot up.

It looks like the MT shift knob is part # 08U92-S8R-000A

They're all a little less than $50, I can't imagine the shipping and forwarding to the US would be much more.

Even the JDM combo (GE8) with the boot is ~ $125

Wow... So the Original Fit knob does come with red stitching... At $125 I cant complain. Thank you so much for posting that. That has solved my issue completely.

I shouldn't have issues with this knob on a GD3 Fit would I? I'm assuming the thread and everything is the same.

Has anyone ordered from Rakuten? Was it easy enough getting it shipped to Tenso and then having them ship it to you? Really thinking about doing this in a couple of days.
