JDM Fit RS calipers = USDM Calipers???

I've been searching a bit and can't seem to find the answer.

If I were to buy uber super duper JDM brake pads for my USDM Fit which pads would I order? It seems the pads are different between RS and the other models for some reason, and i'm not sure if the USDM Fit uses the same calipers as the RS or the other lesser models, or neither?

I want to try the ACRE street pads. I don't want HPS, I don't want EBC, I don't want track pads, I don't want auto part store pads. This is just an experiment.

In other news I see they make "sport shoes", but I think it's for GD only, and i'm not sure which if any JDM GD drums cross over to the USDM counterpart.

Thanks for any help

Porterfield makes pads and shoes for the GE8. I am running just the fronts and they work OK... pretty much same bite and progression, but with better stopping power. I plan to get some Carbotech's in the future, which are my favorite pad.

integra type R, V6 accord, and acura legend calipers all are the same and are a bolt on upgrade for the fits front brakes.

Huge aftermarket of brake rotors and pads with those calipers!!

Dont let yourself get swindled, if they say its Type R calipers, ask them to provide a VIN they got it from (ebay salvageyards)

Don't want to upgrade calipers at this time, want to keep brake warranty. I also don't want racey pads that are hard on rotors. I will do both of these when this car reaches its second life and is no longer my DD.

I've tried most of the easily available US light duty pads at one point or another. Interested in trying Japan's offerings. Seeker, ACRE, Spoon, are a few I've been considering. Partly out of novelty. The only application charts I can find only include the JDM models, which is why I ask the OP.

Thanks for replies!

Never mind, I got it figured out. The only JDM pads that are different are the ones for GE6, which on most manufacturers parts lists have different part numbers than the GE8. Also I know people are using Project Mu pads on US Fits so I suppose I just order pads for JDM GE8 and they'll fit.

I think I was making it more complicated than need be because it looks like ACRE's application list makes it more complicated than need be. Thanks anyway

Hey let us know about the pads, after your testing.

I've been wondering about the JDM offerings, I've read other forums where buyers were happy with the Project Mu, and/or Spoon pads... I'd check in to Endless as well (if they make pad also).

Will do. Endless, Project Mu, Mugen, Spoon, Seeker, ACRE are a few of the options I saw but most of them are a little more money than i'm trying to spend on some street pads ($200+). Seeker were less than 100 but shipping was ridiculous from the supplier I found. If I could find cheaper shipping option i'd try them for novelty purpose but I can't really find much info on the pads (material, CoF, heat range, etc.)

The ACRE Super Fighters are much cheaper and are supposedly good to 450C, the ACRE Light Sports (+$20) are good to 500C, both are more than i'll see 95% of the time. Both are rotor and dust friendly street pads.

Yeah Seeker too.. not familiar with ACRE. I know the Spoons are $$$. Gotta look in to those ACRE's though, they sound interesting similar characteristics as stock but with better bite, and not too dusty.

Try looking in to tenso for package forwarding, it's actually quite economical (read: less expensive).
Good luck with your test.

RHDJapan wants $40 for DHL, Tenso shows about $50 for EMS plus handling fees unless i'm doing something wrong or something is being lost in translation (that's using 4lbs for the package weight).

I may just use RHDJapan for this one. I've never really looked into Tenso but it's cool to be able to shop on Japanese websites. There's a ton of little trinket stuff i'd love to buy.

Hi Wanderer,
How about this one,
Ferodo Type DS2500 for Honda Fit? (Made in Italy)
This is Ferodo Highest Performing STREET Compound.
It is similar to the Ferodo FM1000 used/supplied by Ferodo for Brembo Gran Turismo Big Brake Kit standard STREET pads.

I used to be Ferodo Exclusive Importer back in my country (more than a decade ago),
and I can testify that they are World Class Company. (Part of Federal Mogul groups of company)

Yes i've thought about Ferodo as well and also wouldn't mind. Searching the Ferodos again for a better price I found TopBrakes Street Pad purchase page:

Street Brake Pads for your 2010 HONDA FIT - TopBrakes.com

So that gives me some other choices too. I wish there were some numbers available on there but I guess nothing I can't find on the web. Thanks ALPINA

Hi Wanderer,
if you are looking for Ferodo DS2500 Technical spec,
here it is from Ferodo "RACING" website, (notice this DS2500 is NOT classified with their regular Ferodo for street application, but in their RACING dept...)
but if you check their spec further,
this DS2500 can be use as STREET pads.
here is the link:
Ferodo Racing

DS2500 is amongst the foremost high performance track day pads in the business. It is also suitable for some light duty front and many rear pure race applications. It offers excellent refinement for such a high performance pad. The main characteristics of DS2500 are:
  • Track day & light race use for all vehicle types
  • Road style refinement but with race material ability to withstand heat with respect to life and µ
  • Average friction coefficient of 0.42 over working temperature range of 20°-500°C

Racing

This new generation of friction material is very low in compressibility ensuring a firm pedal, whilst still providing great life for both disc and pad. Combined with low wheel dusting and good noise characteristics this product is the brake pad for the driver who demands the ultimate in track day braking performance. now if you are looking at Ferodo Part# for Honda Fit,
I think this is the one for DS2500 compound

Excellent, very consistent, thank you for posting tech specs!

They appear to be on-par with the ACRE Light Sport pads and at the same price (after shipping), CoF and temp ranges are similar. Will consider these as well.

The calipers do have different part numbers actually. I did order new calipers for my Fit from the US believe it or not, because about $150 cheaper than the same part number here. It was supposedly a special order, but they (can't recall which Honda online dealer I used) were able to get them and send them my way.

I haven't any idea what is actually different between them as I haven't seen the North American caliper in person.

My DC5R came with Ferodo DS2500s, they worked well, extremely dusty, but the ProjectMU HC+ that replaced them were much better overall. And before the ProjectMu I used Mugen's C Spec front and rear. I have not looked back on HC+, my AP2 that followed the DC5R got HC+ and my Fit immediately was swapped to HC+.
