Usb work around

Wow, in my questions in purchasing the 2013 Honda Fit base, I must have missed that there was no usb connection in the glove box.
I have read the post where one fellow installed the $160 unit.
Right now, I need a work around for this weekend.
Would this convoluted plan work?
..a small ghetto blaster, with a usb port in, and able to take the power from my Aux. Out faux cigarette lighter, and then a male to male ic miniphone jack to my dashboard aux. input?
Would that be a temporary solution?
Thanks in advance,
Lyndon

Are you sure you don't have a USB connection? My 2012 Fit Base has one in the top glove box. It would seem weird for them to take out the USB function in your 2013 model.

My 2013 base had it, Honda seems to have made it standard in at least the 2013s

Maybe even the 2012

If you do NOT have it, I do have my USB setup, as my aftermarket radio has a corded USB that I put into the factory spot

PM me if interested

Check top glove box, right side (not bottom glovebox, there are two different storage areas). It is supposed to be standard now. My 2010 doesn't have it but I just use AUX to my phone.

I show all 2013 models to have a USB connection. So like others mentioned look in the corner of your upper glove box.

Once again all 2013 fits have the usb. If you REALLY cant find it, maybe its a factory defect. Go to the dealer and have them point it out to you. If they cant make the service appointment to have it installed for free.

LOL and I'm thinking to myself..."I thought that was a pen holder, because I don't think mine will go all the way up there in my 2013 Sport"!

It is a pen holder. Unless you're Marcus Welby in which case it can hold a mercury thermometer (oral or rectal) in a pinch. House, to you young whippersnappers (definitely rectal).

I'm so embarrassed .

Sorry, I just got back from camping and mountain biking in Moab, Utah. The hitch and the bike hitch rack you guys suggested worked flawlessly! I will check my glove box tomorrow after work, in full daylight. I did mainly look down and to the sides. Your posts that it has to be there will make me happy. Though my thumb drive would not have worked anyway, as I use FLAC, and I would have to recode all the music into mp3 or AAC to work, right? But if I have it, I am very happy. It is strange that in checking my email, I only had one response to my post, and not the many were here. Is that normal?
Lyndon-Very sore from biking some intermediate trails...

WMA works too. I haven't tried a lot of different bit rates (256Kbps I think is the most). The manual talks about which protocols and bit rates work, it's pretty thorough on this area. I'm sure FLAC isn't in there.

WMA seems a bit better than mp3, but to be honest my ears aren't all that good, and neither is the Fit's stock sound system.

Ahhhh Moab. Fond memories of Ruin Park, Canyonlands, Elephant Hill. Beef Basin, Arches. A Fit could probably make it to the top of Elephant Hill. I once found a VW Rabbit sunning itself in the sun up there.

You guys were right! In the top right corner, under a swatch of black like electrical tape was the the usb connector. Weird.
Yes, it doesn't read Flac files, so I will do a batch convert of tunes to a smaller flash drive, as 16 G seems to be too much.
My music software, Media Monkey will convert my files to most everything. Just wish I didn't have to do the extra step.
Thanks to all of you guys responding and helping me.
Now I need a good current deal on a pair of snow tires for this Base!
Moab and the high desert were fantastic. Huge blue skies, and that Navajo sandstone next to the Colorado River is hard to beat!

Unless you're getting snows on all four corners, I'd just go with all season radials. The factory tires are ok.

Most people that get snows get an extra set of wheels so swapping them isn't a big production. They generally skip the TPMS senders and have a dash light glare at them for the season (or stick some tape over it).

If you live in Park City then definitely a set of four. Living on the east bench with front wheel drive, I didn't bother with snow tires. If it's bad going up to the resorts you still need chains unless you have 4wd. I forget if they required chains on all four wheels on FWD cars, but it'd be scary coming down the mountain with chains just on the front. I was a fair-weather skier so I didn't have chains either. But I did have a jeep for some of that...
